    Were to buy alarm add-ons?

    I just ordered up the Clifford 70.5X now im looking for add-ons. Whats some good things to pick up?
    Viper hood,powdercoated wheels,5% tint,custom exhaust,Kenwood 8019 Touch screen,150 Shot of Nitrous, Custom dual bottles,Tinted Tails,all moldings removed,SRT emblims on the Cowl,Shaved Ram head on the front grill,Polished underhood,Hemi Orange valve covers,Custom one off Shiffter boot,Peddel Covers,3 in Drop,LED underbody kit,Headlight strobes,LED Nitrous purge, Tunner,Custom switch panel,160Gig Ipod interface, Cold Air-So far before programer 11.98 1/4.

    Nice. Now I see were DEI they make Viper,clifford ect ect, with addons do they have to be DEI name? or will python or the other brands of tilt sensors and glass sensors ect plug in?? Do we need anything for the can-bus system on these cars? Thanks for the help guys.

    99% of your add on DEI sensors will work with ANY DEI product, so with a Clifford Alarm, the tilt sensors, back up battery, glass break sensors, etc, all from DEI will work... (*** Side note, Clifford was only purchased by DEI about 5 years ago I beleive, before that, the items are not plug and play compatible).

    Now, I do not work for this company, dont even know the people who run it, but I have had VERY good service from www.autotechs.com... You might also hit up some of our supporting vendors, 402 motoring comes to mind, being the type of work he does he likely sells and/or installs them so he should be able get good prices on the accessories.

    With that said, other brands of sensors will work as well, as long as they have a 12V or grounded output when triggered... They arent always plug and play, but can usually work just fine.

    Personally I would stay with DEI stuff though, just makes the install cleaner and easier.

    I usually add the tilt sensor (507M), mini piezo siren (513T) (installed on the inside... It makes it very hard to drive when you have an ear piercing, high pitched siren going off INSIDE the car) and the back up battery (520T) to my installs.

    As for the Can Bus, it is not REQUIRED to interface with it, but it does make the install easir as well as gives a little more functionality... www.bypasskit.com will get you what you need (if installing alarm and remote start, the one most get is the XK532. PM quarky42 as he bought a few a while back on a group buy (http://www.lxforums.com/board/f57/needing-bypass-kit-xk-532-alarms-remote-starts-44655/#post562368) and wasnt originally able to move all of them)

    Good to know man!!! what alarm do you have? Have you heard anything about the Matrix 70.5X? Do you know what install would run for this stuff?

    I actually dont remember the number, but I used an add on alarm and remote start system so I could still use my factory Built into Key, key fob to arm, disarm and start my car... But I have installed one model below the 70.5X in the viper flavor before (same unit but LCD instead of Color Screen)... I had no issues with the install and I have always been happy with any and all DEI product I have done.

    I do know that VERY early units of the 70.5X and equivalent Viper models had some signal issues causing the range to not be nearly as good as advertised, but my understanding was that was corrected long ago so you should not have any problem.

    I am not sure on the install costs as I have always done my own, I would imagine 100 - 200 depending on what all options and additional sensors or controls you want to get added in...

    The alarm part is fairly easy, remote start can be tricky, especially if you DONT use the xk-532... If you order any of the accessories from autotechs you can request the wire color diagram for your car and they will send it along, making it much easier...

    I would probably recomend though, if you have never done one before, let a pro do it, if only for the programming and remote start parts... If you do try to do it on your own though and run into any issues, feel free to PM me and I will get you my phone number and try to help in any way I can...

    Yeah. I think it would be worth having a pro do it. Just so I dont mess it up. but thanks for the offer I found Sonic Electronix has the best price on acc. So with out acc. what all will the main brain do?? Dose it have its own shock sensor and siren??

    The system will come with a 2 stage shock sensor, door lock / unlock, trunk pop (Which can be made to work on the Mag with the correct resistor), it also has a siren, remote start, & dome light supervision... It has other outputs that can be used for whatever you wanted (such as activation of the LED underbody kit or Headlight strobes). And of course has inputs for other sensors...

    OK OK wait wait back up the truck I can turn on my LED underbody kit with my remote?? HOW! thats bad ass! and what about the trunk pop?

    A pro installer should have no problem hooking up your underbody kit on one of the accessory channels of the alarm. It will cost you a relay and some time, fairly simple. On a previous car I had the strobes hooked up to one output, the LED body kit on another allowing me to turn them on with the remote at my leisure... Also had the strobes activate if the alarm was sounding. Again, just need some relays which the installer will have in stock I am sure.

    As for the trunk, look around for Ratmans mod to add the switch up front, that will give you the resistor value needed (4.7K I THINK???). It will also show you where the connections are up front for them to wire into so they dont have to run a wire to the back. One thing though, you will either need stronger struts or some form of spring on the existng struts or at the latch to get the hatch past the first stop point. All that info is also in Rat Mans threads... Once you have it worked out with the springs and the resistor the installer of the alarm should be able to handle it VERY simply as it will just be one wire.
