WARNING BUYERS: Avoid "Don Davis" Dealers

I just want to warn any lurkers out there in the Dallas / Fort Worth area to stay away from DON DAVIS DODGE in Arlington Texas.

They basically tell you anything you want to hear to get you to buy and then do not make good on their promises.

When I was buying my USED 05 Magnum, the finance director askes me,
"What will it take to get you to take the car".
I complained, "I want the towing package installed".
He said, "OK, if we add that you buy the car today?"
    I agreed.
He drew up a work order and told me that they would call me to bring it
in when they had the parts in.
Five weeks now and no call.
I asked him about it and they were like, "oh yeah, we will have to make you
    an appointment for that."
I brought up the point to make sure that they get my load leveling shocks,
and trans cooler with the hitch.
He complained, "Wait, I only said I would give you a hitch, not all that
    other stuff".
I argued, "I asked for the towing package, and pointed it out to you
    in the brochure".

So right now I am combating with them about this issue.

Another issue that shows what douche bags these guys are,
the day I bought the car and took it home it was wobbling all over the place. Turned out that the 20" rims that they put on were bent.
I took it back and they said they would take care of it, order new rims
and put the original factory rims back on the car.
I tiold them that I had to go on a trip to LA and back, they said fine.
NOW - this jerk off manager wants to charge me a pro-rated fee
of the milage on the USED tires!!!!!

I will let everyone know how this pans out, but I would not reccomend
any one buy from these a-holes.

Just like my Dad used to say...."get it in writing". It'll be easier to handle if you have something in writing. The dealership I work at gives customers a paper called a "We Owe" meaning we owe you something as part of the car deal. That paper is a binding contract and we will honor it immediatly. Sorry about the bad luck you are having, I hope it works out.

Your opinion may be the "load leveling shocks, and trans cooler with the hitch" his opinion may be the Hitch. Just because you ASSumed something and didn't get it in writting, don't bash the dealer. He could(and should) bring a lawsuit against you.

Technically speaking, isn't the official tow package everything but the hitch?

I find it difficult that a dealer would agree to install a "tow package" same as factory specs, in fact if they agreed to I would be scared. The upgraded cooling is in the form of a different radiator, with more coils for cooling the fluids. And the shocks require different springs (for most nivomat installs anyways) so this procedure would cost the dealer around $1500.

As for the rims, how did they get bent? Hit a curb? Better get the wheel bearings checked out also.

So if they couldn't install it appropriately, they should have said "we can install a hitch".

    V-Bob said this:
"I want the towing package installed".

Say it with me now, it aint that hard: "TOWING PACKAGE". That does not sound like "Hitch or anything like it. V-Bob got one up the garbage chute with these people.

He strikes me as most Texans, straight shooter, to the point, and he means what he says. The only thing ASSuming around here is YOU.

    Now shoo..

When I was deciding whether to take a fully loaded R/T w/out the towing package instead of waiting god knows how long for the moderately loaded R/T with towing that I ordered, I asked the dealer "can the towing package be added if I feel I need it later?" he looked in his book and said "yep" I asked how much it would cost and he quoted two something (about the cost of the hitch) I asked about all the rest of the towing package, which he then said load leveling shocks weren't a big deal, but the rest would be too expensive if possible at all.

so to sum up I'm not sure who is right in this situation...the dealer for being a snake, or Vbob for not getting it in writing, or going deeper into his inquiry.

I agree with the others. I'm sure that the dealer meant a trailer hitch. What did you get in writing? Like someone else stated, the dealers I go to all use the "We Owe" form. If you didn't get something similar, shame on you.
