Wanna learn how to drive like I stole it

I was looking into attending a performance driving school. I heard you learn some neat things and also become a "better" driver. Anyone ever did one of these, and if so what were the extra costs.

    Thanks

Steal someone elses car and practice on theirs. Nothing like real world training! J/K

Look into the Richard Petty experiance or what ever they call it. I forget.

    Good luck.

The Magnum has a soul. It has a personality, something all too lacking in the automotive transportation appliances everybody else is offering.

You couldn't make a wiser choice then attending one of these type of course.

If your located on the west coast, I can recommend a couple.

If not, go to local race track (road course) web and check out who is approved to run on their track. You amy also call them and get a list of approved vendors.

God luck and you will learn a ton from this.

Audi Club, BMW Club, NASA, and a bunch of other organizations have track days where you can get in-car instruction from a "pro" driver. The Richard Petty Driving Experience is also spoken of highly, and Skip Barber's programs are among the best according to those in the know. The only one I've been to was the SRT Track Experience. Man, you develop a whole new appreciation for these machines!

If you're on the West Coast, let me know. I'm planning on going to another one again soon. Skip Barber did an excellent job with the SRT Track Experience last year.

Try to be a bit more specific as to your location, and I'm sure you'll get some great recommendations in your area.

The west coast has two of the best road racing courses around. Bondurant School of High Performance Driving and Skip Barber...both come at a pretty high cost though...10k for six days. However, if you want to learn incredible car control and have a blast doing it the east coast has a couple of the best car control/rally schools in the world...6k for six days. Team O'Neil in New Hampshire and Ivor Whighams European Rally School in Florida are top notch. I've had the fortune to have attended six day courses at all four schools. At Bondurant and Skip Barber you learn only on tarmac (pavement) and only in RWD cars. At the rally schools you learn the various vehicle dynamics on dirt and snow (season/location dependant) in FWD/AWD/RWD cars. This enables you to understand the different vehicle dymanics between the type...which is huge! I attended Bondurant and Skip Barber before the rally schools and "thought" I was a pretty good driver until I leaned car control on ice and snow. Once I went back to the pavement I was ten times better. The cost of the rally schools is about a third less as well. Here's some links:

    Optimus,

I have attended the Skip Barber classes. Thought I knew how to drive until went to class! High speed driving at it's best. You will have a different respect for driving afterwards and highly recommend. Attended driving school and their racing school. The driving school is where you learn the most about driving, skidpad, braking and how to handle a vehicle at it's limit. Thee best part is trashing someone else's vehicle and turning in the keys with a much better appreciation of how all vehicles handle speed. Please represent and win the competition at the end. The track on the East Coast that I attended was @ Lime Rock. Have been known to take people in vehicle, and that is anyvehicle, after these courses and have them change their underwear afterwards. Goodluck
