    Video: Twisties out in Podunk

I got this somewhere on the internet and it was so neat I decided to load it onto a server and share it. Its 5:42 long, 640x480 and 120 megabytes so don't even think of trying to stream/view it live. Right-click, save to your desktop and double-click on it once you have downloaded it.

Listening to the engine rev it sure sounds like a Magnum with Zoomers on, in Paddle Kick mode, with high shift points. I can't be sure though. Also, if I were to guess I'd say the somewhat limited frame rate might keep you from getting full appreciation for what would probably otherwise be a pretty fast ride.

    remember: right-click and Save As...

And light a candle for my poor server next time you're in church.

Cool video. Luckily I have a good fast cable setup so the framerate was perfectly fine with no hesitations.

    A few observations:

He wasn't really going all that fast.

He was not a very experienced driver. You could tell because he was often times braking IN the turns, and was very late on acceleration coming out of every turn. Had he been more experienced he could have easily averaged about 15-20mph more.

He wasn't using the car's weight to his advantage, a little bit of oversteer and he could really have torn those turns up.

About 3/4 of the way through... ouch, quite a severe bump in the road! Makes me think that it was an SRT8 the way it reacted so stiffly.

He caught a little air a little while after that going over that one incline... you could hear the motor rev up because for a second he was still on the gas... pretty cool!

I would bet it was an SRT8. You could hear the motor (as well as exhaust) and that very stiff ride makes me think so as well. It could just be Zoomers and a suspension upgrade on an R/T though.

If it was an SRT8 I hope he goes to the SRT Experience. He will really enjoy his car once he knows what he can truly do with it.

Thanks for hosting and posting this, it was cool!

Nice video. I'm sure I would've been doing 15+ MPH over what that guy was doing on that road. Sounds like he didn't even get out of 2nd gear the whole time.

I'd probably be sittin' in the ditch with that last truck that passed though. I didn't see him until the last moment. :(

I know the road, actually :-)

No its not very fast at all, but that is a fun road. Its the one Cam and I romped thru last Friday. Speeds could conceivably go up to 50-70 mph where customary speed is 15-25. You can't do things like nail apexes there unless you disregard the chance of a head-on collision on the many blind curves... since its a 1 1/2 lane road you share the curve with whoever is coming head-on. Its either slow down thru it so you have control just in case there's a car coming or take it slow all the way up to, in and out. Not the same as track driving. If they closed the road you could easily put 20mph avg speed thru the length of it no problem.

I've also got a 12-minute one on a different road but its 260 mb. Just flat out too big.

    Thanks for sharing Matt!

I would have pushed it a bit harder! But that’s me; a 17 year old in a 39 year old body... I never learn.

An observation: While I wouldn't want to be involved in a head-on in one of those blind curves, I didn't hear ANY tire squeal. It reminds me of Hwy 33, coming back north across the grapevine when part of Hwy 5 was closed. That trip took a few months off the life of my old Conti's.

Seems like a fun happy medium was found!
