Yesterday, as some of you already know, I left boring old Ohio to go on a small 4 day vacation to Gettysburg. Went to the Enterprise location to pick up my rental car as was given the keys to another LX.
So now I'm driving a black '07 Charger SE with a little over 20K miles.
Initial thoughts are that it's not too bad, a little peppy around town, even. Surprised me. Then I got onto the highway with it. Hills are a definite problem, but otherwise it holds speed and can cruise along at 80mph without much problem. I was in a mini-caravan last night on 81N in Maryland, directly behind another Magnum R/T from Ohio, a Charger R/T from Maryland, and then there's me. Stayed right with them until the Charger got off at an exit, and then the Magnum just walked off and left me.
I miss my magnum, but she's happily sleeping in the garage at home right now, and the Charger works just fine. I just now see the intense difference in power between 2.7 and hemi. I'm happy to have the Charger though, rather than the Fusion enterprise also had sitting there. My choices were the Charger, the Fusion and a 300, which, sadly, looked like it had led a very rough life as a rental. The Charger is not much better, with chips, scratches and the like, but thus is the life of a rental car, I guess.
Leaving the hotel to get to Gettysburg now.
