Tire pressure monitoring system question - Need Assistance

    Hi guys -

I just replaced the stock SRT wheels on my '06 Magnum SRT with those from an '09 Challenger SRT - my tire pressure system however is not reading the sensors in any of the tires and is throwing the "Check TPS" light. All wheels are coming up blank.

Any ideas? Are these sensors coded per car or something? Or did the sensors change from year to year?

    Thanks - Mike

Did you switch the sensors over and install them in the new wheels?

No - sensors in the new wheels are '09 Chally sensors.

Switch the sensors if you can. Otherwise I think you have take it to the dealership and they charge some bs amount just to read the new ones and reset it. I say bs cause my local dealer wants $130 to do it.

Your car may not read the Chally wheel tpms. Also when you move a sensor out of its original position you have to have the car relearn the new position. Check your owners manual it tells you about tpms system.

There was a change in the frequency that the TMPS sensors transmit. I'm not sure what year they did it though. I know that the the Challenger (LC platform) and the Magnum (LX platform) don't share the freq's.

    These are what you have

These are what you need. I'm not sure why these say "thru 2010" though.

Can I transfer the sensors from the '06 Magnum wheels to '09 Chally wheels? I know these wheels came stock on '08 Magnums SRTs.

You should be able to! That is what I did with mine and I have had no issues.

I think I posted in one of your other threads, I have an 06 mag with 09 chally wheels.

You can swap the valve stems between the two sets of wheels and remount/balance for about $175 at a dealership. Like they said, different frequency effective 2008.
