    Ticket fines

Ok let me start off by saying I understand I got a ticket and I gotta pay the price.

what i dont understand is: I got the ticket February 16th. I just received the "bill" for the ticket on 6/13. how can they wait almost four months?

then on top of that, its a failure to obey a traffic device...75 dollar ticket. however there's an 85 dollar surcharge, what the hell?

can someone explain this to me a little bit, unless if i'm right in saying that the local PD is just trying to screw people over and once they've forgotten about the ticket then bill em.

Yeah Paul NYS drops a huge surcharge on our tickets. I've been right there with you.

I just went to court last week and had the court throw out 2 parking tickets... they nailed me in the parking lot of the Greece DMV at the mall on Ridge. They ticketed me for missing registration sticker and late for inspection.

This was while I was in the DMV, to get a registration sticker. On my way to Hilton, to get my inspection.

I have no idea why they took so long to send you the bill though. They must be busy.

You mean you got a ticket in February and haven't paid it till now?
Or you got a ticket in Feb., went to court and just got a bill for the ticket plus surcharges?

I only know about Jersey, but if you get a ticket here there is a date that you have to pay it by or call up and get a court date. It's usually a week to a month. If you don't do anything you get a warrant. $100 - $500, usually. The surcharges are always changing and there is always someone else getting a piece of the pie.

PS. Once the ticket is written, the cop is out of the picture unless you plead not guilty. It's the court that takes it's time sending out notifications.
