Thread size?

I asked in chat last night, but i want to double check....what is the thread size for the shifter...the threaded part...because in my CNC class this semster we get to make a final project..and i want to make a Shifter knob...but i need to know what to tap the hole to. And what the thread size is. Rob told me it was 8mm...but I'm just double checking.
