Hey guys -
Does anyone know if a cat-back exhaust from an SRT-8 Magnum will fit on an Magnum R/T? and if so what, if any mods. would need to be done?
Thanks - M-

Pretty sure they have different pipe diameters...so youd have to get a reducer or something to match em up? That or just do it all from the headers back...![]()
Politically correct is for people too scared to say what they really think.
I have an SRT based catback on mine (the part that matters for this topic, the X-pipe, is SRT). I'm not even sure it's from a Magnum, but it fits fine. Just take it to an exhaust shop and tell them what you want to do, they'll get you set up.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, any exhaust shop worth a damn will be able to accomodate this easily.
My personal advice is to go with the setup I have if you're going the SRT route and it's not local. Or something similar.
I bought a complete SRT catback and only ended up using the x-pipe. The rest of it went custom. Shipping is no joke on a catback system.
just have them make an adaptor.....the cat back fits right in place. A piece of 2.5" id pipe about 3" long should make just about a perfect adaptor.....slide it over the 5.7 midpipe then the 6.1 cat back should fit over it almost perfect.

This is great guys, thank you.
Would the 2.5" SRT catback cause a low end torque loss on a basically stock 5.7 with a few bolt ons? The 2.5" Magnaflow catback I installed is great in the upper RPMs, but the low end torque took a hit......not sure since the OEM SRT exhaust is 2.5" also if it would be the same scenario, or because its utilizing the factory suitcase to maintain backpressure if it would keep my low end torque and be better for my car then the magnaflow.........anyone?

The OEM SRT is 2.75" not 2.5", I think...although I haven't measured it myself.

Like was said above, just get an exhaust shop to make an adapter... should be about $30 out the door. that's what it cost me to have a reducer made to fit my 6.1 Magnaflow Cats to my 5.7 SLP set up.
If you're worried about low end loss just add a cam as well![]()
The OEM SRT exhaust is 2.5" ID, gets to 2.75 at the mids
I posted this in the exhaust forum with no help so I thought this might be a good place. There are no RT catbacks that I particularly like. For example, I like the Dynomax system, but hate the Superturbo mufflers that they supply with it. I don't want chambered mufflers.
However, the 6.1 system, which uses 3" tubing has the ultraflow mufflers, which I do want and it comes with resonators. However, my concern is both fit and torque loss.
My understanding from this thread is that an adapter at the cat-pipe will fix the fit issue, but I'm wondering how bad the torque loss is going with the 3". Has anyone done this and what did you feel, or dyno?
For now, I'm keeping the stock cat pipe.
Thanks...
I can't really comment on the loss of torque, as I still have 5.7 resonators on the ass end.
So basically I'm running:
SRT X-pipe
3" piping
5.7 (2.25"?) Resonators
Tips
So, I haven't noticed any differences in torque. The car feels like it has a little more up top, but I don't think I lost any down low.
