    SRT Track Day WOAH!!

Went to the Beaver Run SRT track day. Here is how the events layout:

    Classroom Instruction

Explained driving techniques and safety measures. Real good class, with excellent instructors.

    Drag Strip and Slalom
    Ram SRT-10
    Crossfire SRT-6 (Fastest)
    300 SRT-8

The distance at the drag strip was as long as there timing light cords were. Not quarter or eighth. I turned the fastest time for the weekend, which was in a Crossfire. Then another guy tied it. Slalom was about 6 cones long.

    1.6 Mile straight track
    Ram SRT-10
    Magnum SRT-8
    Viper SRT-10

Three cars of each type would follow their own lead car, a Crossfire SRT-6.
For example, after one lap the first of three magnums following a Crossfire would move over when the crossfire signalled. He would allow the other two manums to pass and become the last car. They would do this three time over four laps.

I got the Magnum up around ninety. The Viper to 112. Not sure in the truck, probably between 90-100. The truck is a little bit of a challenge on the track, long shifter, long clutch depress, and no rear end weight.

    Autocross track
    Neon SRT-4
    1 Mostly Stage 2 Neon SRT-4
    Crossfire SRT-6
    Viper SRT-10

You had to drive them in that order. the track was half of a kart track. Lots of comprimised turns. One attendee, an autocrosser, was getting the inside rear tire in the air on the Neon on some turns.

It was a great day. If you are a car nut then it is a must. You will feel welcomed there. The lead instructor is great, he won at indy in the 70's, and set a speed record in NHRA in the 70's. The provide breakfast and lunch as well.

    Forgot this.

    Hot Laps
Two rides around the 1.6 mile track in any two vehicles you choose. These rides were driven by the instructors. They were wild. Drifting, high speeds, and crazy turns. Viper was up above 120.
