    Spoiler question..

So I'm swapping out my trunk with a spoiler with a guy with no spoiler on his trunk. Both are Chargers....but I wondering how to go about doing it. First of all, the key holes won't work right? Then the trunk opener on the remote...? How do I go about this basically? Can anyone explain it to me please? Thanks!

Swap the lock cylinders between the two trunks... the remote doesn't communicate directly w/ the solenoid so that won't matter.

That's it. Here are some pics of when I did mine. Some are a bit blurry sorry.

Couple push rivets, reusable to remove the lock cylinder cover.

Then disconnect the release arm from the lock cylinder. It is the silver arm going to the cylinder.

Then slide the cylinder lock clip off the cylinder and she is free. The clip is the black upside down U looking thingy.

Remove the gas struts and prop her open before fishing the wiring harness.

Disconnect all wires which are third brake and power hatch harness.

Attach a string to the harness so you can pull the harness back through after the swap.

Then gently pull the harness through the trunk recess, gentle to not disco the pull back string.

When you get the harness through tape the string to the trunk.

A couple of bolts come out and whammo you are swapping trunks.

When repulling the harness with your string, do not tape the two harness connectors close to each other. The size will make it difficult to fish them through. Tape the string onto the harness and do a push pull wiggle when fishing it through. Take your time and and jiggle wiggle push pull the harness and string and she will come back through. Also where the string is taped to the harness kind of shape it like a torpedo to help it come through the trunk recess.

Reconnect the cylinder, clip, release arm, cover and do some aligning of the trunk and you are done. Took me and another guy about 90 minutes to do ours.

    Good luck.

Great write up. I did mine today. I couldn't get the trunk without the spoiler to line up right on my car...come to find out my tail lights were off. So I adjusted them up and made them flush and viola....it is done! I could have had the job done in under an hour if it weren't for the tail lights being off.
