    Speaker Problems and Interior Noises

I guess I should have posted this in the General LX Discussion forum, since both cars have the same radio and speakers:

Does anyone have speaker problems with the upgraded sound package? I have a 300 Touring with the 6-disc changer and my passenger door speaker buzzes with certain bass frequencies. I can understand the body panels buzzing when it's extremely loud but the driver's door doesn't do it, and it still buzzes when at moderate to low volumes.

I have already had two speakers replaced, and the dealer told me that this is last time they are going to REPLACE it, and I'll just have to live with it, or take it to a stereo shop. I don't think so. If they don't want to try and fix the real problem, witch is probably with the door panels and or moldings, then I'm gonna have to call Chrysler. I didn't buy a $30K car with a $900 stereo to have it buzzing all the time. Plus I think a rear speaker is blown now. I don't even listen to it that loud.

Also, does anyone have any rattling sounds coming FROM their headliner? Kind of sounds like it's right above the driver's head. I get it both with the moonroof cover open or closed.

I had high hopes for this car! I hope it doesn't turn in to a rattling mess. I might be forced to buy an Asian car if this doesn't work out! (just kidding)

Well, my Magnum is not as tight as other new cars I have had. I also have misc buzzes and rattles. Right now my talegate is buzzing and making me crazy. Actually the tightest and most rattle free vehicle I've experienced was the 02 Mountianeer, no rattles at 35K when we sold it.
The complete lack of evidence is the surest sign that the conspiracy is working.

The only buzzes in my Magnum RT are coming FROM the rear speaker housings -- certain bass frequencies, etc.

My dealer tech has been thinking and experimenting on other cars about a fix, and he's set to apply what he's learned when I take the car in on Tuesday. It's probably just a matter of running some foam tape between the offending plastic pieces.

Otherwise, my RT is remarkably tight and rattle-free.

It's not really the speaker buzz that worries me so much, it's more the rattle coming FROM the headliner area, especially since the dealership tried to fix it once already. I don't think it's coming FROM the moonroof either.

    UPDATE!!

    UPDATE!!

What sounded like the rear speaker was blown, was really a plastic cover that popped out of the subwoofer hole. If you don't have the stock subwoofer, then you just have a very cheap looking plastic "plate" that goes inside the hole. If you end up seeing this plate, you will know why it popped out. Anyway, it was a very easy fix, and the dealer fixed it when I took it in so that he could listen to it, and to ORDER me a new speaker for when I had my appointment. Well it looks like he won't have to ORDER the speaker, but I'm still taking it in for the headliner rattle.

Also, there was just a TSB released regarding this matter. The dealer knew exactly what it was before he even looked.

I have developed the headliner rattle you described about two weeks ago. It sounds like a creeking when I hit a bump. Post what they find so I can tell my service department what it is. Thanks.
