Sometimes the cure is worse than the ailment

I had that popping noise on the right side of the dash, once a day, usually in the morning. Took it in for that bulletin. They had no clue what I was talking about, but they looked the bulletin up and performed it. Now I have a bad rattle in the dash in that area alot of the time when driving. Sounds like a loose nut or something. It clicks when stopping or pulling out, rattles other times. Wish I had left it alone...

I get the popping noise , but only once a month or so. Call me nuts, but I think it kinda adds to the character of the Magnum. You know, like a British car but reliable. After owning Japanese cars since 1974, I love the Magnum, it has soul.

I hod my popping noise "fixed" also and wished I'd had left it alone. The fix was alot worse than the problem. After letting the dealer try to fix back it a couple times I finially took care of it myself. My front dash close out(by the windshield) was the problem. Put some very thin foam tape all along the back edge and it took care of it.

I didn't know this was a common problem. I've been waiting for my windsheild to crack about every morning! Looks like I'll just live with the occassional noise as opposed to having the dealer (possibly) make it worse.

I had the windshield popping in my 300C and they did the TSB and never heard it since.

HOWEVER...I heard all about the rattles that are common after the TSB and requested that they put a piece of rubber foam between the pieces and they did. I think that's what prevented the rattling. Maybe that'll help?

Had that happen to me too when the TSB was performed. So, I told the dealer to put the screw back in because of the excessive rattling. The funny thing is that when they put the screw back in (of course the rattle was fixed,) to my amazement it stopped the annoying popping sound every time I would go down my drive way.

Good luck on getting it fixed,

    Steve

Sorry Olds...I wish you would have read an old post I put up about the same thing a long while back before you took care of it. I ended up popping up the dash and putting a screw back in the spot they removed the bolt from. I also added some double sided foam tape. It has taken care of the problem. They should just loosen the bolt instead of removing it. It's an easy fix. A little hard to get in there, but not oo bad. Hope it all works out. I hate rattles!

That's what I'm gonna do. I removed the a-pillar moldings and the front dash piece yesterday. Found where the missing screw was (why in there one on the right and one in the center, but not one on the left???). I'm gonna drive it another day or two to make sure that's where it's coming from, then I'm gonna put a screw in there and see what happens.

In the sunroof thread I mentioned rattles. Someone else mentioned a TSB for sunroof rattles. I don't think so!

This bulletin involves applying MOPAR Stud and Bearing Mount Adhesive to and torquing
    the sunroof fasteners.
