It is so easy to break into our cars it ain't funny

At 3:00pm this afternoon I hear my stock alarm system (1 horn) go off. I look out my window to see two punks breaking into my 300C. I dash out of my office yelling to the receptionist, call 911 - car thiefs.

I work in a nice area BTW.

I tear outside to see one thief in my car ransacking it, and one standing next to it with a large screwdriver.

Their get-away vehicle is behind mine, and I notice that the keys are still in it. In an instant, too fast for the thieves to react, I dive into their PT cruiser's open window (nice car BTW) and grab their car keys, and dash back into the office.

I hear one of the punks yell, HEY, GIVE ME BACK MY KEYS.

I hit the panic button on the office alarm system, and it scares the thieves away.

Their car was filled with stolen goods. The cops couldn't believe I did what I did. They were all smiles as they dusted and impounded the thieves PT Cruiser.

They got my Garmen Nuvi 350, but missed the laptop and Ipod. I was lucky.

Now for those of you who say PULL A GUN, I did that once and got in trouble (dismissed). Your life must be in danger. For those of you who say that you'd beat their asses, that might have worked, but there was two of them, and I thought my strategy was best.

Now, how did they get into my 300C with almost no damage what-so-ever ?

Long time members PM me and I'll tell you. It is so easy that I do not want to post it on a public forum. It is so easy, I am pissed at Chrysler.

My advice to all is do not leave anything of value in sight. (my windows are tinted dark, and it did not help at all)

    Regards,

Let me guess....tennis ball with a hole in it creating an air pocket forcing the lock open...

Or they made a copy of your key while posing as Valets at the local club and are mastermind criminals...

Or they just broke your window....yeah.

It really doesn't matter how hard it is to get in, all you need is a large object or a glass punch. The good part is the car will still be there, because those young punks dont have the means to actually steal the car. I'm not a long time member but I'd still like to know lol.

Sorry to hear that man. It don't matter where you live or work, theives are everywhere...You got balls!

Although I do understand why you don't want to publicly say how they got in, Is there anything that can be done to make it harder for theives with a stock alarm? I'd really like to know.

Well good job on what you did. Bunch of little loosers.
Actually depending on the darkness of tint some criminals are more likely to try and steal because they figure you might be hidding something if your tint is that dark. That's why for now i really don't have too many interior mods or external for that fact. Just very basic.

I wish it were harder to break into a car, but it's really not very difficult when they're not worried about what they do to the car.

Good work and hope they get caught!

I can break into my car in under 1 minute and have had to do it twice thanks to a 3 year old that likes to lock the doors..

it is VERY easy with any car that has pull up locks.. sorry to say..

just invest in a viper alarm with a nice bright LED, and some airhorns attached to the alarm. Wont make it harder to break into, but harder than the car next to yours, which I guess is the point

...which is why I'm not a fan of the "O-Ring" mod for the pins. I think it would make them easier to grip.

Talking You were totally justified in pulling a gun on them

You said one of them was still standing there with a SCREWDRIVER in his hand. A Screwdriver is as deadly as a knife in someones hand. I would have dropped him to the ground and stood on the back of his heck till the police arrived. But you did good!

I think chargers and 300Cs have different door handles, we dont have the ones where you can slide your entire hand in from the top and pull out, ours scoop from the bottom and pull up. So will it be the same in terms of getting into?

Two screwdrivers will pry almost any car door open, if used in the correct place and leave little to no damage.

My buddy worked in an auto auction yard for a few years and they did this almost daily because impounded cars that were sold to them came on a flatbed with the keys locked in them. He said the only cars they couldn't get it to work on were the ones that have no frame around the glass (like on the old Monte Carlos and Olds Cutlass' from the '70s) and the newer Audi's.
