is a small chip/cracked windshield under warranty?

is the windshield covered? or how about a rear talilight that builds up with condensation?

just curious as I need to know.

Windshield NO. Tail light with condensation sound like a bad seal, take it in.

Doubt you'll get that covered. That is considered road hazard. Although, most insurance companies will cover the windshield with no deductable.

Most states require the auto glass to be covered W/no deductable.

The "comp" will cover it so it shouldn't affect your rates.

    HINT:

Make sure the crack is large or they will want to "repair" it, not replace it.
"Repair" involves injecting some sort of glue into the crack.

I agree with dchemi...chipped windshield is NOT covered and the rear tail light might be covered if they cant find a crack or hole in the lens......

    good luck

well, its a small crack. I almost didnt notice it until i wiped it down thoroughly. and as for the tailight, there are no signs of cracks on the outside, its more like a bad seal im guessing. well, we'll see.

    thanks for the help!

As a former service manager for a Dodge dealership, there is no warranty application for the windshield as it is not a defect or failed part. As for the tail light yes, it is a common problem. Check your fog lights for condensation before the 3/36 is up. all this is assuming you are refering to the 3/36 that comes with the car.

thanks for clearing it up. as for my warranty i have 2 years left of the 3/36 and I got an extended warranty added as well. I guess I will have to take her in to fix the light.

    thanks again to everybody!

How about a year old Charger windshield that has all sorts of little nicks, chips, etc...in the glass but nothing bad enough to call a break. Honestly, looks like its the original glass out of a 68 Dart and not from a year old Charger thats garaged. No paint chips or dings yet an old tired looking windshield. Anyone aware of a TSB for the glass

The easiest way to find the chip when there is crack in a windsheild and you can't see it ritgh away is to use a ball point pen, Place the tip on the crack and lightly run the pen down the crack until you feel it hit the chip. I have seen chips start under and at the edge the wiper cowl too. (from impact damage )

my girl's an insurance adjuster, and she suggested i take it to my agent and show them the chip... they usually cover it and have it replaced without a deductible b/c they are weary of it becoming an even much larger repair...

i'll let u know what luck i have with this...
