Probably about 2 weeks in the colder weather. The base is a mineral spirt like solvent and takes a while to evaporate off. I had mine rustproofed this summer and left a fan blowing under the car in the garage each night. Took about a week for the smell to completely dissapate. figure on longer in the cooler weather.

    Jeddy, love the avatar

Work dayshift all the time, never saw them write a report, disco the nights away...Ahh wish i was in CHP

I heard somewhere that rustproofing newer cars anymore may not be a good idea. Allegedly if it chips or peels and water gets trapped under it, it can cause a lot of headaches. plus it adds unnecessary weight. Was told that modern metal forming (Galvanizing, treating, whatever) was good for the normal life of the car and thats why manufacturers offer such long rust thru warranties.

Don't ask me to reveal the source, cuz i have no clue where i heard it.

sxt---I just saved your cowbell avatar...gotta love it...I got the rust dripping rustproof---water cannot get trapped under it as it is a liquid---I also have heard that the undercoating like you describe can cause rust problems by trapping water---most of the research I have read said that the only way to go is the drippy messy knid that penetrates crevices and DISPLACES water....

I know everyone has there opinions about all this so take all info and do what you think is best. Mine was coated with valueguard. A real close friend owns the place. He would not steer me wrong.
