    Question RKE battery low.

I saw this when I was leaving this morning and actually thought it had to do with the battery. I put it in diagnostic mode and the engine bogged down and almost died. Battery showed 13.8 - 13.9 volts. Then I thought maybe it meant remote keyless entry. After all, the car is almost a year and a half old. That's really not too long if you consider that I'm still on the original battery on my Chevy that's five and a half years old. Do our remote batteries really die that fast?

RKE is you Remote Key battery. I got the same thing. When I opened mine up to see what battery it takes I found that one of the connectors solder was loose. Re-soldered it and everything is fine now, didn't have to replace the battery. Just something to check.

Hell, I got 3 other keys; I'll just use one of them until I get a new solderin' iron.

This has been mentioned a few times in the past.

I got this message once just a few months after getting the car - haven't seen it again. IIRC, this will sometimes happen if the remote is used at the edge of the remote range.

The problem is RKE and low are not searchable due to 3 letters.

True, but he said he had hunch it had something to do with remote keyless battery - he was half way there!

Thanks for the links. I don't have the remote start or any aftermarket electronics at all. I used a "new" key and don't see the message any more.
