Good info. Chrysler bought AMC in the mid '80's. Jeep's current straight 6 engine is a modern version of AMC's old 232 and 258ci 6 banger.
AMC was formed by a merger of the Nash/Kelvinator company, and the Hudson car company back in the early fifties.
Nash invented the modern hot water and electric blower heater still used in cars today, and they were the first car company to place all of the air conditioning components under the hood, as opposed to being under the car and in the trunk.
SuperMan drove a Nash.
