    raw gas smell on start-up

My 2005 MRT has just recently started getting gassy - I'll get a strong whiff of gas inside the car when I start it up. Finally today I had time to open the hood and pull off the engine cover, and while nothing looks wet or shiny, I do smell gas under the hood, too, although neither side has a stronger smell.

A few months ago, I changed the spark plugs, but I've got no start-up codes showing up on the EVIC after the key dance.

Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.

    Thanks,

    JLW

She's bone stock - changing the plugs was the first time I'd been under the hood. FWIW, the odometer is reading about 63k.

    Thanks,

    JLW

PS - love that challenger - beautiful car, and cool as old nasty-idling carb'ed V8s are, you can't argue with a 460hp motor that runs like a daily driver!

definitely smelling gas under the hood

With the engine cover off, I'm definitely getting a gas smell. Everything's pretty dusty, and nothing's obviously wet. However, I've got questions about the fuel system. In the (hopefully) attached picture, I've got boxes around what I think I've identified as the fuel rails, and the only things I see feeding them. It looks like there's a rubber hose feeding the passenger-side rail, and a cross-over mid-way that feeds the driver-side rail. Is that right? If the hose feeding the system is rubber, is it possible that at 6+ years and 64k miles, it's getting leaky?

    Thanks,

    JLW

PS - can't upload - any link to explanations of the fuel plumbing?
