Radiator fan top plastic cover, do you need it?

Installed my new radiator fans and installed the top cover wrong. It actually came off & found it this morning at the bottom of my engine. Do you need this cover installed? It's not the top 2 peices that are right there on top when u open the hood. It actually goes directly on top of the fans, it's really flimsy looks like a big windshield wiper blade. What does it do? And is it a big deal if it's not installed?

If you have the part and the means to reinstall it I would.

Do you have your OEfans still? Of so what manufacturer is on the motor?
