    A quart of tranny fluid?

When trying to find the problem with the driver side air bag warning system, the dealer added a quart of tranny fluid. (25000 mi) I questioned where it went and was told that a new tranny absorbs a quart! There are no leaks and they have been doing the oil changes in the past. And always checked off trans fluid OK.
Could this be true or am I getting a grease job?

NEVER heard that one before!!! I'd check beneath your car on the passenter side and see if there's trans fluid on the crossmember or leaking around the connector to the harness. That's where the 0-rings typically leak. Perhaps place a piece of cardboard beneath it overnight and see what you find. Once those o-rings leak, they LEAK! My dealer "topped off" 1.5 qts at 12000 and told me it was a slow leak and it wouldn't be a problem on my trip from Charleston to NYC the next day. 400 miles later, my trans was slipping, I was burning fluid on the exhaust and the dealer I went to said I was 5 quarts low!!

Most of the o-ring problems I've read about both here and on 300cforums.com have been between 11k and 20k with a few exceptions on both sides of that bell curve!

    I'd get those o-rings checked!

    Mucho Gratze Roberto,
I don't have any dripping on the garage floor but will check the area under the car. This is the same service mgr. that told me "conti's are great tires". i just replaced them with goodyear assurance's. Could not be happier with ride, handling.

Glad to be of service and thanks for the congrats and the compliment and early congrats on 41 years!

Not to worry about the language, I'm already confused! I'm learning Portuguese from my bride to be and that's already a mix of Spanish and Italian....

    Ciao!

Here at the shop we do a lot of new cars and we have observed that almost ALL new GM trucks and SUV's are at lease a quart low on tranny fluid. These are coming from the plants that way. Looks like GM is trying to recoup that 19 billion loss one quart at a time.
