Well maybe for the R/T. Weighs in at 3800lbs.
A Notable Feature of the 2008 Pontiac G8
The 2008 Pontiac G8 V-8 engine will put out an impressive 362 horsepower and a robust 391 pound-feet of torque. That combination should move the car from 0 to 60 mph in under six seconds, which is muscle car quick.

It is based on the new Holden Commodore platform. The old Commodore platform is the same as Pontiac GTO. So I would say yes this would be competition. At least for the R/T's.
I actually like it. Have to see it in person though. As for direct competition, I will say yes, without a doubt. Unlike DCX that neuters our tuning abilities, GM has a open door policy with the aftermarket just like Ford. I would think with the proper dynotuning, they will probably be quicker... We'll see, its still to early to tell!

Read about it in Road and Track... RT competition, SRT8 should have no problem. But, we will see when it actually comes out.

Just wait for the GXP which will surely have somewhere around an LS6.

It looks clean and fresh, I have to give it to pontiac for making a come back, I am sure that V8 will scream. And the 6 speed manual. We will see.....

People down under are running mid 13's with the normal v8 version...not the hsv. If/when they make a gxp version, it should be insane.
Sweet car! Nice body except for that grille there. Pontiac models got an impressive Pontiac oxygen sensor... as my buddy told me based on his experience. I would hit that one!![]()
bored...
Different strokes for different folks, but the front end is fugly to me, Pontiac lost me back in the early 70's.
