Seems like I read somewhere back in the spring that they went to Toyota.
Sad, it's all about the Benjamins.

Forgive your enemies, nothing pisses them off more!
Not just NASCAR but just about all Mopar sponsered drivers are going Ford.
Maybe Mopar is pulling out of NASCAR, like most everything else.
GM has pulled some of their major sponserships also.
Even drag racings best!

I think NASCAR will see less support from the OEMs unless something is done about the rules. In this economic environment, it's really tough for any factory to justify a racing effort unless it has some immediate positive impact on product development, and it's been a long time since NASCAR has offered any such opportunity.
Now, change the rules to allow only production-based EFI motors, and then it'd get a lot more interesting (and less expensive!) for the factories.

LOL don't be such a nerd, if it was the 70's all over again and Richard switched from Dodge to Ford you wouldn't really care, he's still won 200 races cause the man knew his way around the sport.
Now, like many, nascar really isn't much nascar to me anymore. You look at the cars and say to yourself, they look all the same and the sad part is they do, there really isn't much to differentiate the cars cause nearly all the rules make it as dull and as boring as IRL and yet they think having Danica is going to change NASCAR and eliminate IRL for good.
Example, why do people seem to talk more about college football than pro football? Cause it's fresh new players that worked their way to get to the top league. Much like in racing your guaranteed to spend more money setting up, prep, etc than you are to get money back trying to finish first, which makes road course racing a hell of alot more exciting.
and yes, product development is probably the #1 thing auto companies look to build upon in street cars with race cars. Acura, Honda, many of the foreign company's do this, domestic, not so much. Hell in the 90's we had some great racing between the Viper and the Vette but they pulled the factory plug on Team Oreca, the Aston Martin, Ferrari, Lamborghini's were just to slow to keep up with the Vette so it was running in a class of it's own for a few years until they finally just decided to step down to GT2 and race cars that are even more production based to the ZR1. There is no 24 hours of Daytona, it's just lame "prototype" cars racing BMW's and Pontiac G6's so of course the country doesn't care an racing has just gotten duller as a spectator.
Anyway, I'll admit I'm a bit crushed this happened but like Richard said, there's no such thing brand loyalty anymore, it's about the $ and who can win the most.

Richard Petty in a Ford ?-- Blasphemy !!!
Attitudes are contagious. Mine might kill you.
The only Dodge team that will be left for the 2010 racing season is Penske Racing. I predict that in 2011 or 2012, Dodge will be out of Nascar once again. Its sad but it does come down to money and support. Two things Chrysler lacks these days.
