part 2 of rev limiter problem? Confused.

    part 2 of this problem.

Help I keep hitting rev limit?

This morning I went for a quick spin to see what would happen with the tranny. Low and behold it happened again. Maybe I canm explain better now: Tranny was in Drive not autostick
From a stop or roll if I go WOT the engine revs to about 6250-6500 rpms and it will hit the limit in first, then it feels like the car looses power for a second or two, and then bam here comes second. Then the engine will rev back upto the 6250-6500 rpm range and stay in second bouncing of the limiter unless you let off the gas.

My flashpaq is set at 91 tune, sport tranny (5800 rev limit), 160 mph, 28.5 for tire size.

It used to not happen before and I have had the flashpaq for a few months. Any suggestions.

Unless someone knows the fix, you may be the pioneer here. I'm not to familiar with the "sport" tranny and have never tried it. I would suggest switching to "custom", "paddle-hold". I haven't heard of anyone with any problems with that setting and seems to be the mode of choice.

    Good Luck!

I use custom tune and it bounces if my shift points are raised, so I drop it back to 5800.

I had custom with stock shift points, reduce tq, auto kick with these setting it happens. The sport tranny is same setting. The performance is the one with raised shift points.

I am not sure it already goes up over 6250rpm I would think it might go higher, would hate to over rev the engine. Then be like uh I don't know what happened Dodge.

OK, I reflashed my Rt with the 91 oct tune, sport perf tranny, 28.50 tire size, 160 mph limit.

the problem has disappeared. The sport tranny is the smae as I had set on custom. 5800 limit (which is stock tranny settings.), reduced tq mang.,auto kick.

I went out and WOT a few times and the problem seems to be gone. Not sure if its the setting or just reflashing. Which ever its gone.

    Glad to hear it.

Side note: Your engine is balanced out to 7000 RPM, if I remember correctly, so no problem with an overrev. Only potential problem I haven't heard much about yet is the oil distribution past 6000 RPM on the 5.7L. I could have sworn they were only good for a hair over 6000 RPM... Maybe somebody more knowledgeable can educate us on that one. But I rev mine to 6250 every time I get on it and I put the pedal on the floor more than alot It's never so much as hiccupped and seems to like it. I can't wait for a good cam.

Was the tire height recalibrated the first time?
Shift points are based off of MPH.

Ya know I think this is standard for all the Dodge PCMs. I have the V6 and mine does the same thing. The new PCM with the B&G flash should fix it.

Basically what is desirable is a shift point just before redline and the rev limit set at redline or above. Main idea would be to shift before you hit rev limit. I don't know why the PCMs are programmed the way they are inless it's to keep from over revving the engine. It really takes away from the performance of the vehicles.

Another problem is the throttle control. I can mash the gas peddle half throttle and it seem to excellerate accordingly. If I go wot I get maybe 75% throttle open and then it gradually opens to wide open. I hate Hal.
