Question Outside temp gauge stuck at 65

I have noticed on occation, usually after going through the carwash the outside temp guage gets stuck at 65 degrees. After a while it comes back to normal but I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen.

The Magnum has a soul. It has a personality, something all too lacking in the automotive transportation appliances everybody else is offering.

Sometimes it can take mine 5 to 10 minutes to "update" after taking it out of a garage or someplace where there is a big temp difference.

Yeah, mine gets a fiesty every once in a while - twice in 9 months...but it usually starts working again after another start or it just takes a little time. Imagine how frustrating it is for a meteorologist

The exterior temp gauge on our Heritage Edition when bonkers a couple months ago. Wasn't reading anywhere near correct (I thought it had seen one of Erics forecasts! - j/k!!!).

Anyway... I discovered you can "adjust" the raw reading via the Diagnostic menus. Increments in 5 degree bumps... so I just played with it until it was reading "more" normal and it hasn't mis-indicated since.

I can't explain it, but that's what I found and did.

Yes it happens to my 06 Magnum RT in the winter time. It corrects in it's own, but sometimes a day, or others just a restart.

I think I read somewhere that FnkyChkn says the car does not read the outside temp until the car is moving over 35 MPH..............

    Was I right???????????????

For what its worth, my 2006 300C with EVIC version 4.08 is no better. It often takes 10 to 15 minutes of driving to update, and sometimes it is off by as much as 5 degrees. Most inaccurate outside air temp indicator of any car I have ever owned. I had the dealer look at it and they said it was fine. This is the biggest annoyance on my car. Surprisingly my 2002 Town and Country updates quickly and is quite accurate, so Chrysler does know how to do an outside air temp indicator correctly. Why the LX outside temp indicator is so poor is a mystery to me.

    Wow, another Cincy person...

Mine is usually off a little bit, but I don't pay that much attention to it. No EVIC, so I've got to scroll through too much stuff to really check it.

    Thanks, Hazman

Allow me to re-open this thread................

I've been driving the Magnum more & more lately(I'm closer to home so she drives the Honda occasionally)

I'm not having the same problems as others have described but it's not very responsive to outside temp changes. I don't think it's reading incorrectly but I'm not really liking the way it works. Sometimes it can take 10 minutes or more to change and then it changes suddenly.

I've got a Ford add-on in my Land Cruiser, I had a new 03 Marauder which I traded in on a Sti, which I then traded for the Magnum. They all worked really well and would show almost instantaneous temp changes (but not scroll like crazy)

Mine's an '06 so I don't think that TSB listed applies..........I wonder if there's an updated sensor or a newer TSB

ambient temp display is not instantaneous, update rate depends on vehicle speed and is dampened at slow speed/stopped vehicle.
