Are our cars riddled with issues?

I know I'm still new, but I see an awful lot of threads with people having problems with their cars. I just picked my 05 Magnum R/T up and I'm beginning to wonder if I made a mistake. I love the car and it seems like it's all good, but is it going to fall apart on me?

I know people on this board are a small percentage and the unhappy always speak the loudest, I just want to hear from all the folks who never had any problems. I got mine used and it has 9 months and 6000 miles left on the base warranty and I'll most likely get the 7/70 transferred just in case.

I don't mean to sound like I'm talking bad about the cars, I just see a lot of people with problems on here.

I'm damn happy, for how I drive it and what she goes through, I have no complaints at all. This is the first DC product I have ever owned that gets a thumbs up from me.

I've got an 05 RT as well. This car has been problem free except for a minor trans fluid leak back in 05 that was fixed under warranty. It is my first DCX product and though I plan to keep her awhile, I would definitely consider buying another.

No problems here in my first 14k miles other than a little fogging in a taillight. If you consider that a major issue though...

My brother has over 85k on his '05 and I think his only problem was a cover from his luggage rack that came off.

Our Magnum R/T is 17 months old, just clicked 37,000 miles. Zero defects, no problems. No trips to the dealer. Only regular maintainence such as oil changes, tires etc so far.

Drive it and enjoy, LX's are sweet cars.

These rides are subject to issues like every other manufactures units are. Some of us have had minor problem, some major and some are flat out lemons. The biggest problem I see with this is the fact that DC has never been willing to offer quality (i should say "stand behind their") warranty repairs. I have experianced that first hand with two other DC products I've owned. Luckly, this ride has been great.

yeah, they really are. when i first saw the 300, then the magnum and the charger, i said "now that's what an american car should be". big, powerful, good looking and they are really all those things. the first time i saw a magnum, i knew i had to have one. that and you don't see them at every stoplight.

i love my magnum, the gun slit windows make you feel like a kid hiding in your fort or something, lol.

I think you will see a higher percentage of folks here, than on average, with "issues" because for the occassional exasperation where else would one come to find real answers and get help. Thus LXforums is somewhat like a LX hospital (or at least clinic).

Have you ever noticed the high percentage of people who are sick at hospitals and clinics? It's quite high by the way. LOL Doesn't mean there is a chronic "issue" with the human race (okay there is, but that's not the subject here...).

Now in that regard. I've had three LX vehicles over the past 18 mo., and none of them gave me any reason to rush to a clinic. The only reason I don't have the first one anymore, is that it was traded for the third vehicle (MSRT8). That was a definite upgrade! Oh Yeah!!!
Still in love with my first wife, and first car ('68 Charger)... Still have the wife!

Considering the LX was a brand new platform (I know it's an older E-Class benz chassis) I think the outcome thus far has been incredible. No major recalls.

I wouldn't say our cars are riddled with issues, yeah there are some issues, but you go to any car forum, Toyota, BMW, Lexus, etc and you will see just as many issues, even owning a very early first year model (build date june 04) I haven't had that many issues, the only real major/semi-major were there was a seal leaking in the rear end, the rear window motors needed to be replaced, the tires wore fast, replaced at 16k, and the wipper switch needed to be replaced cause the 2nd intermediate position was constant on, and for minor issues i've broken my vissor clip twice and one of the plastic acordian pieces on the sunroof is broken and needs to be replaced, overall i've been very happy with my car aside from the rattles, but a lot of that is because I still haven't dynamated it and with 2 12" subs you're going to get rattles in any car without dynamat.

This is my second go round with Dodge Products (How many of you remember the Carroll Shelby GLH Turbo and Dodge Daytona Turbo 4's, they were fun) and I can say that as of this writing I haven't had any major issues with any of them and the one small one I did have they fixed and gave me some service goodies for the life of the car.

I'm on my 3rd Dodge. The last 2 were built at a Mitsu plant ('96 Avenger, '00 Stratus Coupe) and they were decent cars, but my Magnum is put together much better than the last 2. I have an '05 Magnum R/T that was built in 5/04 and I'm over 66k miles of hard driving. I've had minimal problems. I think the only non maintenance issue I've had was the visor clip breaking, but that was an easy $3 fix. Here's a list of my nuisance issues:

OEM tires lost all tread/traction around 17k miles - Fix: new non-Conti tires.
Rotors warped around 25k miles - Fix: EBC rotors installed
Lugnuts swollen around 58k miles - Fix: bought a set from HHP for $36.

That's about all I can think of at the moment. I've actually had less issues with my Magnum than I did with the 2 Hondas that I've owned. I'll be getting another one when I decide I've put too many miles on this one.
