Unhappy Only 4 Days... and THIS happens

This has been an incredible 4 days having my new Magnum. I actually left work a little early to go wash her off because some inconsiderate avian creature took a dump on the hood.

Anyway... I found this when I got to the back:

DAMN! I think some dumba$$ at Walmart rammed it with a cart! And this was the first time that I've gone to a Walmart in almost a year. I even parked WAY in the back of the lot.

What a drag. At least she still looks great from the front. Can't the New Car Gods give just a bit of mercy??

Sorry to hear/see your misfortune. It could have been some freak accident, but we all see and experience way too often someone not giving a crap about other people's possessions.

    Never seizes to amaze me.

I feel your Pain! That's our biggest FEAR when we park in public with our Magnum. I always try to park far enough away, but not too far (if ya know what I mean).
When I bought brand new truck in 95, it wasn't a week someone had keyed the side of my truck. So now, when we buy a new vehicle, the first thing I do is remove the paper plates and frames. It's like a Beacon for Vandals.

Yep, reminds me of when I used to ride a Harley... had to post someone at the bar window to watch the bikes, couldn't go anywhere that you couldn't keep an eye on them:(

I almost feel the same about the Mag, need to leave someone in the parking lot to keep an ye on it. Last Fridy night I stayed at a hotel in WI. The palce was deserted, maybe 10 cars in the whole lot. I parked an empty space away from an GCSRT8 with an empty spot on both sides. Damned if someone didn't park right next to me before morning:(

At least they didn't wack me, but WTF, there was a whole empty lot, why stress me? !!!

    Sorry about your chip, sucks.

Man that sucks. Some people see a nice car and get jealous (or careless) around it. If I ever catch someone doing something to my Magnum, there will be hell to pay. I got scraped in a parking lot at my son's high school football game, and the repair was $1800. I had to pay $300 out of pocket to get it fixed.

Here's an interesting way to look at it... some friends of mine are in a band (which I used to be in and left... figures) that's toured all over the US with the likes of Goldfinger and Less than Jake at venues including Warped Tour, etc. They played some nice gear... but hated seeing it get trashed. Their solution? Take the new $2000 guitar out of the case and pass it around... everyone keys it. Stupid? Maybe... but knowing it's going to be trashed anyway, they preferred to do it ceremoniously right from the get-go. Now, I'm not suggesting anybody else try this, cuz they're a little nuts, but their logic isn't totally whacked... at least now you won't hold your breath quite as hard the 99% of the time when you don't have a reason to, right? (just trying to be a 'glass-half-full' influence). Still sucks though!

I feel for ya, I really do, I would be devestated, I would be sad, I would be angry, I would cry. Our mag is 17 months old and there are two very minor scratches/chips in the door and hood edges. Also the normal amount of dings from rocks in the front, not real visible though, basically it is just as good as when we got him. I feel for ya, I really do, I would be devestated, I would be sad, I would be angry, I would cry , oh yeah I already said that, well you know what I mean.....
Try and get it fixed? Will cost, but maybe worth the dough. Again, sorry to see/hear of your bad luck.

After having bought a few new cars and had stuff like this happen to every one of them, I reached the conclusion that it's just inevitable. Things are going to happen to your car and there's just no way around it.

Also, it seems like the more we try to take special care of our cars, the more that things just seem to happen to them.

Now this is a problem I had but in the front....maybe it appies to you. I went to a do it yourself car wash and saw this stuck on bug crap on the fascia. When I tried to blast it off I got a little to close with the nozzle (which was running at to high of pressure) and it blasted the paint off a cubic cm of the front left curve, just above the fog lamp. I had had the car 3 weeks. I thought if you had just washed it maybe you could have done something similar.

Hate to see it !! Mine came in Midnight Blue and pre-scratched. I didnt see them until the first wash in the sun a few days after delivery. Dealer tried to buff twice with little success. Anyhow I was still fanatical about the car for weeks until my daughter dented the hood with a wiffle ball...doh !! What kinda cheap $hit are they makin nowadays anyhow ?

I did this years ago to my [then] brand-new Neon Sport but was unlucky enough to remove a couple of square inches of paint from the front bumper. It is a particular problem with plastic fascias and the solution is lots of soaking and if you're going to use a pressure washer, use it so the stream is almost parallel to the surface and dont get too close.

The upside was that after I sold the car I was able to track it around town for a couple of years.

Nah... I didn't use a pressure washer. Anyway, you can't see it in the photo, but there is a slight horizontal crease from whatever smacked into the bumper.

I just ordered that Langka paint chip repair kit. Hopefully that stuff works well.
