Just like the title says. Liftime Powertrain on top of EVERYTHING ELSE that the Max Care warranty covers that is offered by Chrysler.
For quite sometime now I've been putting off getting the extended warranty on my car. I'm getting close to the 3 year mark for it being in service so I started to look around. Keep in mind I bought my car used.
So I do some looking on the internet and see whats out there. From previous advise given here I check out the guys at www.chryslerservicecontracts.com and get a good deal of information from them. If I recall the guys name is Michael. I asked about the 7/100k Maxcare Plan with a $0 deductable. He quotes a price on it for me and it was really good and we get to talking about some other things. I told him I was looking at buying a new Dodge vehicle to take advantage of the lifetime powertrain warranty. He said why, when I can get a lifetime maxcare warranty on my vehicle I have now. I questioned him like he was on drugs. Sure enough as long as it is a 2006 and newer Chrysler vehicle (even if you are NOT the original owner) you can get a lifetime maxcare contract that is offered through Chrysler.
I guess they started offering it due to the amount of people that where upset that they didn't qualify for it. Those that purchased before July 26th, 2007. So this is great news for those that are interested in taking advantage of not ONLY the LIFETIME POWERTRAIN but all of the OTHER itmes the LIFETIME Maxcare offers. Those of you that already have the lifetime powertrain can take advantage of the lifetime maxcare as well to cover the rest of the car. So if you plan on keeping it for a while I'd suggest doing so.
There are however some downfalls. Even if you go buy a new car with the lifetime warranty from the dealer today and are the original owner it's not really a lifetime warranty. If for example 15 years from now your motor blows up and needs replaced and is going to cost 15k and the car is only worth 10k they will basically cut you a check for 10k and cancel your warranty/contract. So in a sense the lifetime powertrain isn't all it's cracked up to be, but is still a good deal in the end.
So any thoughts on this guys/gals? Am I the first to hear of this? What's your take on this?
Note: I did a lot of dialing on the phone today to confirm this and it is indeed legit. I spoke with Chrysler directly and the only things that may exclude you are things such as it being a fleet/commercial vehicle and the standard no SRT's or diesels stuff. If you think like myself and want to hear it from the horses mouth 1-800-992-1997 Customer Assistance or 1-800-521-9922 the # that is on every service contract through Chrysler.

The 7/100k 0 deduct was $2600 and change. The lifetime $100 deduct was $2600 and change. The lifetime 0 deduct was $3700 and change. I think it's worth it if you are going to keep the car. All depends on individual needs. I am still blown away that you can get the lifetime on used vehicles.
