    New Check Engine code I think I got it!!!!!

    Well once again another thread from Bigkevin20 on how he doesn't have cruise control. Well today I got another check engine light U110A, P0335 P0340. The new one is U110A the other two have been serviced by dodge and they still haven't fix that yet.
    Well thanks to Fnkychickn I found this from searching the forums

    "U110A-LOST COMMUNICATION WITH SCCM - CAN - C
    Bus messages not received from the SCCM (steering column control module) for approximately 2 to 5 seconds." Fnky posted that.
    Well the dealer has already replaced my cruise control switch and it didn't fix it they said they may have to order a SCCM but wasn't sure. This makes perfect sense now I'm hoping this is the fix to my cruise.

    Can some one tell me where is the SCCM (steering column control module) and what it looks like. Better yet what page/ chapter in the service manual. I have the hardest time navigating that thing. I want to make sure its not affected by any mods I added before I take it to the dealer. I think this might be it. Any body know and thing about P0335 and P0340?

    the SCCM is located in the steering column hub between the wheel and the instrument panel. all steering column switch messages are processed by and transmitted from the SCCM.

    once the hub is removed from the column, it can be disassembled to access the SCCM.

    WARNING: To service any component of the SCCM, the entire assembly must be removed from the column. This must be done due to the clockspring passing through the assembly and into the self docking connector. Failure to remove the assembly could damage the pins of the clockspring and prevent the airbag system from operating properly.
    1. Loosen the three clockspring screws (1) just far enough to release the clockspring from the SCCM. Leave them in the clockspring so it won't unwind.

    2. Carefully pull straight up on clockspring to remove. NOTE: After the clockspring is removed, there is only one more screw on the top side of the SCCM that needs to be removed and is located at approximately the six o'clock position on the SCCM. It holds the lower side of the steering angle sensor, the lower side of the electric tilt lever assembly, or the strengthening strut if not equipped with electric tilt.


    3. If equipped with ESP</B>, remove the steering angle sensor screw located at the six o'clock position on the SCCM and remove the steering angle sensor (1) from the SCCM (2). If not equipped with ESP</B>, there will be a plastic insert there for strengthening of the SCCM that will lift right out.

    4. If equipped with manual telescoping column</B>, remove the strut screw, located at the six o'clock position, and strut (1).

    5. If equipped with electronic telescoping column</B>, remove the one remaining screw (4) to electric tilt located at the six o'clock position, and remove stalk and switch (3).

    6. Remove the speed control switch (1).

    7. Remove the three screws (1) at the bottom of the SCCM shroud for the multi-function switch and Steering Control Module (SCM).

    8. Separate the multi-function switch from the SCM.

    P0335-CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR CIRCUIT
    • When Monitored: With the ignition on and battery voltage greater than 10.4 volts.
    • Set Condition: The PCM detects that the Crankshaft Position Sensor input voltage is implausible.
    Possible Causes

    (K24) CKP SIGNAL CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE

    this one may be a little tricky to diagnose (P0335, P0340). either of these DTCs can be caused by the CMP sensor, the CKP sensor or their related circuits. i usually hook up a 2 channel lab scope and monitor both sensor signals while wiggling the harness.

    The light went out again. So the steering column problem was definitely not caused by me if you have to go threw all that.
