    Need help with LED Tails

I am installing some DEPO Performance tails and checked to see if they worked before putting the light back in and the back up works, signal works but blinks faster than normal, but the park light isn't coming on.

Does this mean something with the voltage?

you have the park light plugged in backwards. and if the turns are LED's, you have to add load balancers.(Resistors)

Well nothing in the directions say anything about load balancers but even after turning the plug around nothing for the park lights. When I check the plug with a test light there is current. But when I plug the light up and pierce the insulation of the hot wire nothing. May be just something with the plug but it doesn't seem to have anthing wrong. It's the same plug used with the OEM lights. The new lights plug where the OEM bulbs plug.

Check your fuses.. And YES you need load resistors (and usually) a LED flasher unit (to replace the stock incandecant bulb style flasher) because of the different load factor

or i guess contact who you got the LEDs from for confirmation

1 6 ohm resistor wired across the bulb wires per side to fool the puter into thinking a regular bulb is in there.

I am running the sonar LED tails and have added ERD backups and LED turn signals. If you run just the led bulb, the lack of resistance across the leds tell the computer the bulb is dead, therefore tripping the bulb out message and the fast blink (same symptom).

NOTE: THIS IS FOR THE TURN SIGNALS ONLY IF YOU ARE RUNNING THE SONAR TAILLIGHT (PREWIRED PARK/STOP LIGHT). THEIRS ARE PRE-RESISTED IN THE CASE.

From above site: the one you need is the 6ohm version that looks like

The first time I plugged my tail in (Sonar) the parking/brake light wouldn't light... took it off, put it back on, lit up and has worked for months since. So, try unplugging it, shaking it (just to make it seem like you did something) and plugging it back in. Maybe that'll do it???

Is it the brand name? Mine were plug and play with no issues. Easy install and work perfect.

LEDs are one way power - like diodes. If you unplug and just flip the connector over so that the power goes in the other wire, it should work just fine.

I've tried flipping the plug. These are the ones someone posted just recently and several said they didn't like the arrow on them. I ordered them from Performancecarparts.com and on the box it says DEPO Performance Lamp.

Weird cus I didn't get an invoice in the box or anything.

You use the original harnes and plug the new fixture into where you take the tail light bulb and turn signal bulbs out. The oem backup bulb is used in the new fixture.

Tail light doesn't work but when I put the original lights back in everything worked so no fuse problem.

performance car parts.com seems to be nothing but a link site. no actual producs, and on the depo site, no lights for the mag are shown. if you have a part #, it'd help a little.

So, what I understand, is that the lamp is prewired for stop and turn bulbs, and when you plug it into your harness, nothing works but the backup bulb?

My first suggestion would be to look inside the housing of the lamp, and look for some sort of electronic mounting board, or something similar, that the wires from the lamp plug goes to. If they go directly from plug to bulb, it's not resistored. If there is something electronic inside, 99% chance it is resistored, and just faulty.

With your turn signal blinking fast, I can say with certainty that it's not resistored. The stop lamp is a different story. The taillights from Sonar (or X3, same people) are preresistored for the stop/park, but utilize factory turn/backup. If you add led turns to it, you must resistor it yourself with the above part I linked.

    Yep that's the ones.

The Backup and turn signal work even though the turn signal is flashing too fast (I ordered the 6ohm risistors) The tail lights won't come on. I've flipped the plug but still nothing. The fuse isn't blown cus the OEM tail lights work fine when I put them back in.

Does this occur on both sides?
