    Need help with this damn car!

    So over the pst few weeks my car has been acting strange. The ESP/BAS/ABS/Brake light flickers on and off randomly for no reason at all..... when it does this my speedo goes crazy and drops and regains itself instantly... this all happens with in a matter of seconds....

    The other day my car was surging while doing the above all at the same time.. I could hear a clicking everytime the lights came on the dash but I swear the clicking was coming from my center console under my shifter... either way the car was undriveable until I shut it off... and when I turned it back on it was fine with a check engine light.. so I look at the codes and I had a :

    * Fan relay 1
    * Fan relay 2
    * A/C clutch

    codes... when this happend I didnt have any A/c until I reset it... after I reset it it all worked fine for a few days till this morning.... I came out to go to work and my battery was dead... turned the key nuttin.. I jump it off and strat driving it.... what do you know the fockin thing was acting crazy doing all the same stuff with the crazy surging all the lights and clicking.... I turn it off and try to go but same thing..... it doesnt want me to get up to speed at all.... so I finially get it back to my house and reset the codes... b/c I had the same ones mentioned above.... now she works fine.....

    Why would I be getting these codes and why would they drain my battery? How do these codes effect my surging/and all the lights and clicking?

    Thanks guys!

    That sounds like you have a harness chewed up or melted somewhere, causing intermittent electrical issues and a battery drain. Don't know where to tell you to look though... for all the ins and outs and work, is your engine harness still intact and out of harm's way?

    The only thing I can think of is it might be credited to my duel throttle body intake... it has a very intense wiring harness....

    Have you lost a fan belt at anytime Jason.... check the harness that runs just below the FCM and fuse box to see if it is damaged...I lost a fan belt once and it chewed through that harness and caused similar problems.

    It could actually be a problem with the gauge cluster. My Jeep Wrangler had a similar problem, replaced the gauge cluster and good to go. However I didn't have any performance related issues.

    You say you have twin TB, any way to change back to just one to eliminate that as a problem. I do agree that a battery drain would indicate a wire somewhere is grounding out. Perhaps a harness got damaged during an install and the heat/weather finally took its toll and is now acting up.

    I know this doesn't really help you at all but it might jog your memory or give you a place to start looking at things.

    2 things to do, get an ammeter between the battery positive (or ground) and check what the draw is with car off. Then start pulling and replacing fuses until you see a change in the reading (it will go down) this may help isolate a specific harness/area to look at.

    I remmeber my car did that when a wire harness on the passenger side of the car was too close to the headers and it zinged a whole pack of wires. All those dash lights would flicker like it was losing power then it shut off. But since yours does it over and over I would say its a lose ground somewhere or somethign shorting out for brief periods of time

    You also could have rodents chewing wires.........

    Check for Rodent Crap around the engine bay.............the little buggers love to nest in and around the nice warm engine.........They also love to chew wires............My wife's old SX 2.0 experienced similar problems and the cause was traced to rodents chewing through wiring...........At our old house I found rodent crap under the manifold and between the cylinders on my wagon..........
