    Question Navigation DVD

Does anyone know if I can make a backup copy of my Navigation DVD with a DVD burner on a PC? Thanks for your help.

Thanks 345CID... Do you know if the Dodge or Chrysler logo that comes on the screen when you power up the radio is a function of the DVD?

I'd be careful using a backup copy. I've had nothin but trooubles with mine. I keep getting that blasted "Nav read error". If I could do it all over again I would have stuck with the original Nav disk. However, seems mine my be an isolated incident so just giving you a heads up.

It comes up right away, and even comes up when the Nav DVD is not in the unit. That means it's part of the firmware on the HU, not read off of the disk directly. You might be able to change it by looking through the firmware on the DVD and subbing in an appropriately-encoded image (if it's even in there), bumping the version number, and reflashing. But if you could do that, I'm sure you wouldn't be asking anyhow :-/

So basically, it looks like we're stuck with the stock image until we see someone else figure it out for us.
