    MyGIG DVD issues

In my '08 Magnum R/T, I have MyGIG with Nav, but not the Rear Entertainment System. I tried a DVD movie and I get sound but no picture. It recognizes it as a movie and it shows the Display Video button on the screen, but pressing it does not display the picture. Read that the movie feature may be disabled based on your state, but this was with the car off. I live in Mass. (can't imagine it's illegal to watch a movie with the car off). I also tried a DVD Audio disc. It sounded great, but every once in a while I'd hear a "skip" in the music, as if it had problems reading the disc. The "skip" appears to happen at random times though, so I don't think it was a bad spot on the disc. Even with these glitches, I'm impressed with the system. Sound quality is very, very good at normal to moderate volume levels. Thanks for any help!

Is the "Display Video" truly highlighted, or is it greyed out? Try putting your emergency brake on, if you haven't already, and see what happens then.

Emergency brake did the trick! Not a bad little picture on the MyGIG display either. Now what idiot thought of linking the emergency brake to displaying the dvd picture? I mean, isn't the transmission in park, or better yet, the engine turned off enough of a "safety margin" in order to view the screen? Where is the logic in this??? Why not just use the Nav disabling "safety feature" which is based on whether the car is in motion? At least you could understand the thought process behind it and make operation of the MyGIG consistent across all functions. Now that I vented a little, thanks a lot for the tip! I can honestly say, I never would have thought of this myself.
