My Xmas gift, and ? on JBA Mids and Cats

    My wife rocks!

She surprised me with a gift certificate to JBA Performance center for a pretty good amount. The question I have is this.

For those of you with the JBA Midpipes and Cat's, how hard was the install? The will not do the install since the setup is not CA legal.

Secondly, how much trouble can you get in for having these on a California car?

That's about all I can get from them since I already have an the rest of what they produce for our cars. Thanks for the advice ahead of time!

If they are not looking for them they will never know(can't see them from the top).Install is a PITA but you can do it yourself. You will need every swivel socket known to mankind and an assortment of gear wrenchees but if you have any mechanical apptitude you won't have a problem.Just make sure you give yourself a weekend.Normally an install is 6-10 hrs btu it's nice to have a second day just incase.

The mid-pipe cat assembly is about a 20 minute install. Doesn't alter the emissions as far as I know, so you might be okay. If not just swap them out before your next 'check-up'.

Thanks again to the "JBA Guy"!

I love my setup, and wouldn't trade it for the world!

I think if you can get a lift though you will need all the tools but it makes it a lot easy. If you search the engine forum you can see a lot of folks that have left a lot of good typs on the install. Good Luck.

I installed the Cats on my AWD RT in about 3-4 hours with just the front of the car on ramps. I also have the JBA headers, so, since they have bolts and not studs, I was able to get the stock Cats off without removing any of the rest of the exhaust. The toughest part for me was getting my hand (and wrench) up to the header to hold the bolt when installing the new Cats. If you've got big hands and forearms, it's gonna be fun!
