    My Silver Box Review!!

First off thanks David for the excellent service, great guy to deal with!!!

Got the package in the mail Monday but didn't get to pick it up at the post office till today.

Went to a buddy's house to install and hang out. Got the wires hooked up and just pushed the box back behind the metal knee brace/bolster. Me and 3 guys loaded up in the car in the number 1 spot (stock), and went a ways. Nothing new here, absolutely the same as stock. Went to 2 and you could feel the difference. Each step is progressively harder. 6 is ridiculous, lol I love it. 25-30mph at 12% throttle in 1st gear, tap the shifter to second, and you catch rubber. Don't have to stomp on it to catch rubber in pos 6.

Really ****ed me up when in pos. 5, i downshifted from 2nd at like 30 mph and it went to 1st, chirped the tires, slid me (and everyone in the car) forward in the seat, i inadvertently smashed the gas, she took off and shifted to 2nd catching rubber again, all withing a matter of moments. From the downshift to the concussion afterwards was really a WTF afterwards, lol no thoughts during.

Passing gear on the highway is great too. I put it in 4 and went on a cruise. We went to pass several people and there was no hesitation, it was a fast and abrupt downshift to the right gear and you are gone, no smooth transition here, lol.

The downshift is kind of a bitch. I'm used to it though because of the shiftkit i installed in my daily pick up truck (it will spin a 33" all terrain tire on the 1-2). It shifts almost identical to this box (not as hard though). It shifts about as hard down as it does up. Just something you get used to (and miss when you drive something else).

All in all... I'm really ****ing impressed with this box. Took seconds to install and the rewards are amazing. If i daily drove it i think my happy spot would be setting 3 or 4... 5 on the weekends and 6 when you want that "wtf.. did that car just chirp the tires on the 1-2 at almost no throttle" look from people around you.

Recommend this **** to anyone... almost before the predator, lol!

Great review Justin . I have to jump on this . Sounds like an easy un-install to if for some reason your tranny gets ****ed ( not because of this but in general ) and your dealer tries to blame you for it . Sweet product !!!

I cannot keep reading these info threads. Position 2 or 3 sounds like the way Daytona's should have come from the Factory. Nice for the New Owners of the Silver Box to keep posting up reviews!!!

so when you take your foot off the throttle, it downshifts hard also, correct?

say your going 60mph, traffic light up ahead turns red, you take your foot off the gas to "coast" till it turns green or you realize you have to stop, how does th car react?

If the car is in 5 or 6 the downshift is pretty damn hard! Like is said, holding steady RPM at 30mph (in 2nd gear) with the mod in 5/6 the car will chirp the tires on the 2-1 downshift. 4 is more civil (comparatively) yet still firm/fast. You can definitely feel it but it's not obnoxious or harsh. I'm thinking 4 is where it will stay at most of the times for me.... well... except when the wife gets in... then it's back to stock... god i can hear the bitching about how bad it shifts and how i'm ruining the car...

Isnt it the opposite? Faster, firmer shifts are actually better for the trans. anyways Ive always been told...

Firmer faster shifts are better on the trans, less heat build up on teh clutch pack. HOWEVER, it isn't easier on OTHER driveline parts (u-joints, axles, R&P and converter).

Nail on the head brother. It is better for the trans itself... but harder on drivetrain components... case in point, i have a similar kit (albeit a mechanical kit) on my 2500 silverado and it's hell on my u joints!
