Looking good Bill. Those additional side bars are a good idea, my local tech guy gave me grief that I don't have them.

Great shop and stories to boot!
I'm sure your car could take the chevelle....

Thanks Bud! Yes I'm glad they found a way to do that. And that crane can lift like 20,000lb!

Thanks Jon! And I actually forgot weather the mild steel tube is .143 or .120 and the CM is .83 I think, I'll find out for sure.

I read the in the NHRA rules and elswwhere that mild steel tubing has to be at least .118" wall thickness and .134" is a commonly used tubing, The chromoly has to be same 1 3/4" tube dia. and at least .083 wall thickness. The back bar (behind the seats tops) is 1 1/4" .065 minimum wall on chromoly. (must be at least .118" and 1 1/4" mild steel)

Thanks Dave! I think Bill and Joe really went all out to make an awesome 8 pt. bar thats not intrusive at all to the daily driver and is totally NHRA legal.

    Thanks Bill,

Can we see a close up of the take-out connections at you feet? It looks like it unscrews. I have never seen one like that. Pretty cool.

thoughts on the down bars behind the driver and passenger front seat? I guess you never have rear seats in so it isn't much of an issue. Just kinda curious.

I'll get some more pics up when I pick up the car Jon, The lower side bar attachment is a bolt in Chassisworks piece that uses a lock nut to set the tightness on the swingout. It's just mocked up in the pic.,

They wanted me to option for just removable side bars without swingouts because the floor is kind of flimsy at the front attachment point (even with the plates top and bottom) But I got the swingouts anyway and I'll just be careful I don't bend it out of line with the hoop.

I was suprised myself Mike when I saw the extra back bars but Billy said "Their not extra bars, For this rollbar their required" I guess they just go by worst case possible. It looks like any back seat passengers will be reasonably able to sit comfortably. I don't think I ever had back seat passengers though.
