    Must be my lucky day...!

So, I pull into my local Sunoco station to put some gas in. The sign reads $3.26 / gallon for 93. I'm only putting like 5 bucks in since I have to pass my local BJ's which is usually .25 / gallon cheaper. Go to pump the gas, and the reading on the machine says $2.26 / gallon!!! I look around at other pumps and the regular gas price is $2.95 / gallon. Man, this stuff never happens to me. Saved a $1 / gallon or almost alittle more than $17. Maybe, I should go play the lottery, now!

I'd say I was on my way, but we don't have Sunoco around here so I assume you aren't local. Damn ;-)

The only problem is that you are sticking it to the local gas station owner, not the oil company. The oil company was already paid when the truck dropped off the fuel.... I have known quite a few gas station owners, and they make very little on the gas (depending on the area and local competition), so I would sort of feel bad "stealing" from them...

Not bad enough to not go ahead and fill up the car, but bad enough to probably let them know once I was done that it was wrong... (Maybe as an annonymous tip over the phone so they didnt make me pay for it anyway).

    Thanks, cnote.

Yeah, I've always seen those stories on those news where a guy gets gas for a buck a gallon because their computers at the pump were messed up.

I didn't feel bad for them since the owner of the station drives a 'Vette! I don't think he'll be eating Spam tonight because of the mistake!

OK, the owners I knew drove Hyundais.. if I saw him with a Vette, yep, I probably would have pumped and run too.

it's pretty pathetic that we're getting excited about gas that $2.26/gallon

I remember the good ole days about nine years ago when gas was around $1.00 or less per gallon.

Even before that for a while when it was 1.20-1.30/gallon. I didn't care that my fullsize ford bronco with the big 351-4bbl that got a thirsty 8mpg..

the wawa near the navy base in Norfolk ALWAYS has the cheapest gas in the city...

the only other 2 that come close is the dodgers across the street from it and the 7-11 down the block from it... and I'm sure they do it just to remain competitive...

so where gas around the corner from me at BP is $2.95 right now, it's only $2.75 at Wawa, and $2.79 at the other 2 stations i mentioned...

That's a fact....it's a party and a rush now to pay $2.26 a gallon...when just a few years ago we would have been rioting over that jump. How time changes....
