    Monster Drive Shaft Loop

Got me a safety upgrade! I know it can handle more power than i will ever be putting in my car so that's one less thing to worry about in the tech line for when i finally buy some tires. I've had it on for a few weeks now. No rattling after a full weekend at the track. Checked it again today and i hung from it when the car was on the lift and it would barely budge(i'm not a tiny guy)

*edit sorry about the low grade camera phone pics. I'll get better pics once i get the final version installed on my car.

I thought tubular steel had to be welded according to the rules.....only 2"x1/4" was able to be bolted?

sorry, i don't have the specs in front of me. I'll check with them on the tube stuff but i know it's pretty damn thick. I'd hope since they make stuff like this for cars that go waaay faster than we do that it would be within spec.

Looks good Mike! I don't know the ruling on it but your drive shaft won't be coming in to meet your leg with that loop there!

What do you mean by "it can handle more power than i will ever be putting in my car"?

The loop is just a safety measure. It, in itself, didn't buy you any strength.

I know it's nothing more than a safety upgrade, but it's nice to know that no matter how much power i put into my ride i won't have to worry about the drive shaft getting through that loop on the way to me.

I found out last night that this is not generic steel tubing. It is DOM structural tube which i guess makes a big difference. Hope this helps.

This loop is absolutely legal. Although we had no question, we called the NHRA national tech line and talked with/sent pics to Bruce Bachelder. He confirmed it is NHRA legal. Welded steel tubing is referring to the type of tube. In this case, we are using DOM which is better than electro-weld.

    Thanks!
