Manual Trans in Magnum and Chrager, Will Will Dodge Wake Up?

So..... I am still thinking about what I will get for my next car and while I really like the Magnum and the Charger looks decent, my next car will not have an auto!

What is the deal? Why can't you get a manual trans in the LX cars? I guess it is Mercedes influence but I just don’t get it.

I think the Magnum and especially the charger would sell better with a manual option. Not only that, but then they would be roughly as quick as a Mustang GT and probably get better mpg on the highway (than the auto hemi powered cars).

Any rumors out there about introducing a manual in any of the LX cars other than the SRt-8 versions?

I like sticks also, but if you drive in much traffic, thy are a PITA, and also get a lot wear in the clutch. If you get aquinted with the Autostick, you may be very pleased with the comprimise. I had 3 Intrepids with Autostick prior to purchasing my Magnum RT. I am very used to downshifting to decellerate, and have had excellent brake wear on on all of the vehicles.

The Autostick is not exactly a manual, but works pretty well, it will not always shift when you tell it with much throttle applied, but will shift itself when under WOT, or heavy acceleration.
Try it, with some instruction, you may like it, I do.

Not even the SRT 8 versions will have a manual. I doubt that you are ever going to see a manual in the LX series. Sorry.

I think that the MDS would have a more difficult and less effective usage with a manny-trans.

I have heard form several sources that the SRT 8 has a MUCH better Tranny. Whether that's in the programming or in the trans itself, I don't know.

Suppoed to be more accurate and crisp and stay in the gear in which you put it.
(Waiting patiently for the 2011/12 300C SRT 8)

That can be fixed with probably 5 lines of code in the ECU... Damn you superchips get your act together!!

The new June Car & Driver just came in the mailbox and there is a Road Test of the 300C SRT8 and they said this about a manual tranny:

"Following the logic of AMG's offerings, the German automaker's American operations do not offer a clutch pedal. Manual transmissions in sedans this large and with this much power somehow feel out of place and too often suffer from high efforts that make them difficult to drive smoothly."

Again i quoted this straight out of the Car & Driver article so it is totally their opinion. I'm not sure I 100% agree with them (think Cadillac CTS-V).

In such a large sedan i dont think a manual wouldnt be worth it, I understand people want them to get the full power out of the engine, but it is useless in a large sedan. And i dont think the CTS-v is a good comparison because the CTS is smaller than the 300, will the STS-V have a stick shift. Buy a 300C and a manual transmission lawn mower, then you can fullfill the urge.

No manuals for me, even my lawnmower has an automatic and I wish my Harley did too. I owned a Honda 750 automatic years ago and I really liked it.

Only drove sticks when I was younger. Now that I am old (42), with two teenagers, a wife, a cell phone and numerous other distractions, I love autos. I don't think I will ever buy a stick again. The autostick takes a little getting used to, but it works okay. I don't think that DC will ever put a stick in an LX model. :( for some but for me.

I don't see why it matters how big a car is.....

Why not offer at least a SMG?
