    Lost my ROAR

I have the Mopar CAI for the past year or so and have always enjoyed the intake sound (ROAR) and did feel some seat of pants difference compared to stock (with K&M drop in). Well, over the weekend along with 60k plugs and oil change I decided to "service" the filter for the first time. Could not get the "mopar" kit from the stealer so ended up with a K&M clean and oil kit. It turned out nice (except the color-loved the original blue-matched the exterior), but when running for the past 3 days, it seems that the "ROAR" is just not there. The dealer told me beforehand to go to the auto discount store and get the kit there, not sure if he meant the K&M, or the AIM (oem for Mopar?). I just might bite the bullet and get another filter for it, of course, the stealer ordered one to have in stock 60.00 and it turned out to be the drop in for the stock box. Who all has serviced the filter and with what, is mine screwed up? I asked them if it was an oil type and they confirmed (are they all the same?) BTW the throttle body was GROSS, probably due to the oil I guess.

Was the filter dry before applying the oil?

I have had no difference in tone after cleaning my filter. You shouldn't be drawing it into your intake tube either. Maybe you should buy a replacement.

Did you clean it then lightly oil it? Did you let it dry after cleaning it, and before oiling it?

What he said -> it's possible that you 'over-oiled' it. Try doing it again, the K&N kit should have enough to do it more than once.

I had K&N with all my other cars, When I re-oiled I always let it sit overnight to soak it in real good and I never had oil contamination at the TB or MAF sensor.
Perhaps you put it back in too soon.

Thanks for the feedback. I cleaned the TB BEFORE putting back the CAI, it was gross from the OEM, K&M drop in and the Mopar (for the past year). Yes, I finally found the Mopar kit with the blue oil so I will get that for next time. I was very careful to not "overoil" It was just a slight shade of pink compared to the deep red of the original K&M I now have stashed in my garage (along with the stock air intake).
I guess my original question is, what is, if any, difference between the "oiled" filters (Mopar, AIM, and K&M) and the kits that "refresh" them.

I had no difference either in my filter or noise level when I cleaned mine. I also have the K&N or "K&M".

I was told to make sure you use the blue oil kit and NOT the red for the Mopar/AEM filter!
Not sure why, but I like to follow directions and have had no issues for 2 yrs.
