    lights dimming with music

ok, I am running to amps Rockford Fosgate P450.4 450 watt 4-channel Amp and Rockford Fosgate P1000.2 1200 watt 2-channel. I running with infiniti with components 60.1 from and the kenwood 6x9 in the rear. as far as subs I am using 2 Rockford Fosgate P312D2 P3 2-ohm DVC subwoofers. I have a 5.4 cap (yepp its big might get another amp and sub later) in right now and I notice my lights are still dimming on me... WHY? I just put a OPTIMA yellow top deep cycle battery in it. I was sure that this was gonna solve the problem. Any suggestions

Have you tried swapping out the little thin 8 guage ground wire that goes from the battery to te chassis with something in a 1/0 size, made a difference for me, and only cost a couple of bucks

Hmm lets see 1650 watts = 264 amps(not including the rest of the car's draw)
    (every 100 watts = 16 amps http://www.the12volt.com/info/recwirsz.asp)

stock alternator = 160 amps, still wonder why haha

About the only way to keep the lights from dimming would be to out in a bigger alternator or try a dual alternator. A dual battery setup will allow longer stopped run time.

Once you hit 160 amps the rest is drawn from the battery. During the low draw(low bass) the alternator tries to charge up the battery. Your deepcell has a slightly higher amp rating. The main + is that the deepcell is made for DEEP discharging with out the plates in the battery getting ruined. This is why when you have a normal battery and have run it down to the jump point a couple of times, the battery wont hold a charge. The plates get sulferized(wrong term but it will do for now) and the plates have less "clean" space to accept the voltage.

It gets even better, when the alternator is trying to give all it can, it gets hotter. When it get over a certain temp, it ability to supply voltage drops. So the battery has to work even harder. Vicious cycle.

If you have seen the car audio mags you will mutiple alternators on the heavy duty hitters.

Depending on the type of music, and who is in the car with you, dimming the lights could be good; kind of sets the mood, I think!

You can always go to an alternator shop and they can get you a custom setup. My buddy put an ambulance alternator onto has jeep to run all the extra crap for offroading
