    Lighting a shifter ball?

Ok, so I've bought my Flameball (www.flameball.com), and bought the tiny LED that goes inside it to light it at night.

When installing the ball today, I noticed for the first time the shifter shaft isn't hollow. So how in the heck do I get the wire down from the light? I'm thinking of pulling the shaft and drilling it out (I have access to a mill and CNC machine). Anyone else gone down this road?

PS: I love the ball. Outstanding quality and it has a great feel. I'm keeping it either way.

first that is a sweet lil ball you found there. Other then drilling I cant figure out a way. Perhaps if you cant go that route you can perhaps cut a grove in the front of the handle to where its out of sight for the power wires. you would have to use thin wire.

Ohhh that I like!! I'll do some searching here... know off the top of your head if anyone has made a nice boot yet?

BTW: I was reading thru the service manual and it looks like no small task to pull the shifter assembly. I'm not even sure the shaft can be removed from the assembly.

This is what mine looked like

I was going to get one for my Magnum but couldn't figure out how to run the wire for the light.

Someone here had a REAL nice boot set up for thier shifter.

I have a neat guy local that does some reall good Leather work. I am thinking some kind of boot, grey leather to match the grey in teh car ( not too fond of the Sandstone color I have for the seats )

But a clamp ring to keep it on the rod then mount it to the shift gate somehow. I am still working on what needs to be done and how it should mount, I would prefer it not cover the shift gate.

Interesting... that looks like a complete top side replacement. Any idea who makes/did this?

This is from the concept cars. They changed to the gated shifter for production.

They may have instructions on the site, but one I saw on another car had the wire come down the front of the shifter shaft and then was covered with chrome tape. I like the hollow shaft idea much better.

I bet Aspendog could hook you up with a leather cover for it.

I Have One Too. I Am In The Process Of Making An Aluminum Sleeve To Go Over The Shaft With A Groove Cut Out In The Center For The Wire To Go Through.
You Will Have To Notch Out Thetop Of The Shifter By The Threads But It Will Work.

    Hope This Helps.

Interesting idea! So I assume you've found a way of routing the wire thru the bottom of the shifter assembly (under the gate?)?

I've contacted aspen, and he's willing to talk! Looking forward to read what his concept would be.

PLANNING ON DRILLING A SMALL HOLE RIGHT NEXT TO THE SHIFTER HANDLE.

THE SLEEVE WILL COVER IT UP.
