    KW/ST/Mopar coilover users...questions

Ok for those that have installed coilovers, I'm finally getting mine installed Friday and had a couple questions....

As far as the height adjustment, where did you finally settle on in the range?

Does the height affect the ride? Say if you adjust it all the way down is it rougher and vice versa?

How hard is it to go back and change the height?

And how much can you reasonably change it before it needs a new alignment?

Ok that should do it. I'm thinking I want to stick as close to my current ride height(Eibach Pro's that settled to about a 1.75 drop) but wasn't sure how much that changed the ride and performance as far as the coilovers were concerned, aside from the lower center of gravity.

Thanks in advance for all the input I'm sure I'll get!!

I'm gonna tack on another question on this topic. I"ve seen alot about extra dampers to be bought, but with the KWs internal damper settings, are these neccessary? As far as I've understood, just swapping the KWs in for the stock struts, and adding shortenend shocks was a good plan.

Are the extra dampers only used when going with a bagger setup?

    Big Daddy,
I have tinkered with mine a bit (w/ hotchkiss bars) and found that the adjustable dampening is handy. Ride height has been up and down for me, I had all the preload off the springs to get the lowest ride and found it to be too low (adj ring bottomed out) it did look cool tho. I measured Matt Rs. and a couple of others and ended up with 1 1/4 inch from bottom of threads to bottom of adjuster ring on the fronts and no preload on the rear springs. This gives me very minimum rake and drops the car enough that the top of the tires are inside the wheel well, i.e. just seen under the fender line. Dampening adjustments effect the ride more......I go from front 1 1/2 turns out to 2 1/2 hard to soft depending on the drive I have planned. On the rear I go 1 1/2 to 2, it can be easily accessed if you get a hole saw and cut a hole (1 1/4" fits the Volvo rubber panel plug called a "cam adj. plug" by Volvo) in the interior panels. The hole should be centered 1 3/4" rear of the forward wall of the recess behind the wheel well "bulge"..........where the saddlebags are installed. The plug looks factory perfect and an extended adjuster (Magnum8r used fuel line 6") reaches right in to adjust. I find the front preload can be easily adjusted, but the rear spring preload is a beeatch. Hope this helps, let me know if there is anything else I can do.

**Sorry this was posted before I saw xcelr8r's post**

I'm talking about a complete coilover set up. There are no other dampners or shocks to put in. These replace the springs and struts/shocks from the stock setup, or in my case the stock struts and eibach springs.

So with all you guys running coilovers no one has any input? With this group I expected to log on and see a bunch of posts...lol

I was really suprised there weren't others chiming in on this...I thought this was an easy one..lol.

Well I figured I'd push this to the top one more time since I'm dropping the car off first thing tomorrow morning. Hopefully there will be a few more posts on it. The shop doing it has a long list of experience with high perfomance everything but had not installed coilovers on an LX specifically so I was hoping to give them a little more idea of where I was hoping to set the height adjustments.
