    Keys don't work....any help?

First time this has ever happened, I'm stumped?????

This morning I go to leave for work and the trunk won't open using the key. So I try all the buttons on the key including the spare key. Nothing works. Doesn't lock, unlock or open trunk. They key works. No issues like others have reported by keys failing. The key starts the car and can lock and unlock car using door handle. So, at lunch time I get brang new batteries. No luck, same thing. The buttons on the keys don't work.

Anyone had this happen or have any suggestions?????

    RKE battery is dead.

the battery in it is for the doors/trunk etc.. the ignition does not depend on that battery for the RFID to work..

battery is a 2032 if I recall and $5 at CVS/Walmart/target/radio shack etc..

    **edit**

oops didn't see the part where you changed the battery.. (note to self: learn to read the whole post dummy (lol))

    did the key get magnetized?

if you are under warranty go to dealer, if not come on over and I'll use the star scan to reporgram them.

I replaced battery 2032 in each key. Nothing changed. I still can't use the buttons on the key. Is there a battery somewhere else?

yeah the solder joint on the battery connect is weak, if you drop the keys it can/does break...

This happened to both keys at the same time. I know both keys works in the last week because I used them. Doesn't make sense how that could happen. I'm not that lucky. Anyway I checked the connections and solder joint inside the key and everything looks great. Nothing broken. I cleaned it up with rubbing alchohol, but still not working.

Mr. I, you say the keys need to be reprogramed just to lock, unlock and open trunk?

well yeah the keys are programmed to the car..

sounds odd that both lost the programming.. it is possible that the wireless control module (WCM) in your car has failed.. in that case it is a warranty replacement issue, unless you have an aftermarket alarm or remote start that is/has caused the interference or failure.

I'm sure it's more than the keys themselves. Like I said, I use both my keys regularly. There is no reason they both would go bad on the same day. Must be the WCM. Looks like I'm dealer bound tomorrow morning. Thanks for the help.

Have you had the vehicle battery go dead?

Mine did last week (I left the key on for 1 day after playing with StarMo and forgot to turn it to off), and when I jumped it and restarted it I had to reprogram the keys.

Took the car to the dealer this morning and jguess what? The (WCM) wireless control module needs to be replaced. Part is now on order and will be repaired shortltly covered under the warranty.

I went to Rancho in San Diego on Balboa Blvd. I've heard a lot of bad stories about dealers. Rancho is top notch, they really know how to take care of you.
