If I knew then what I know now

In March 2006 I was trading in my 2005 Magnum R/T, I was the 2nd owner of it...bought with 10K miles and I was trading it in one year later to the day I got it with 49K.

I was getting screwed around by the dealership on my trade in on my SRT-8 and almost walked...hell I almost said "Fine, I will trade it straight up on a SE model" since it was worth the same as the amount they were giving me for my R/T, $23K.

But NO, I wanted the SRT Brakes, Engine, Suspension, rear end gearing, transmission, Chrome Stripes (not really), etc....... and you know what, none of those SRT parts are on my car any longer...all are gone for aftermarket stuff.

In essence if I would of had ANY IDEA my car would be right now what it is at that time I would of gone a completely different way, sure it would of taken changing a few things but it could of been done, probably for a lot less than doing it all to an SRT and having the damm SRT payments....hell the SE would of been paid for a long time ago.

So many people ask if they have an R/T and upgrade motor, seats, brakes, ect do they have an SRT..... well what the hell do you have if you do the same to an SRT...other than a car I will keep for the rest of my life, it is in my blood you see. My father bought a 1967 Camaro with a 350 C.I.D. motor cause that is all they came with at 1st and then dropped an aluminum 427 C.I.D. in it...still has the car and drives it every once in a while, original paint, original interior.....27K miles on it.

I guess it is just in my blood, I always thought I was like my mom growing up and my brother was more like my dad....guess I was a little wrong.

Life is funny that way, the things you try to avoid sometimes, the things you HATE the most about other people are usually the things you can't stand about yourself....just food for thought I guess.

Eh, ya know what, the SRT was more fun in the meantime. And hey, you get to have the badge on the hatch ;-) If you'd started w/ a v6, you would have had to do a whooooole lot all at the same time to get it to where you are now, at least this way you could sort of go in stages and at least use some factory stuff.

Go ahead and blame the forums. If it wasn't for the mod bug it might have been different. Ya right. J/K

Looking back we always see what we could have/should have done differently. But than we wouldn't be where we are now looking back, would we?

That's what stopped me from the SRT8 at the dealership. I could NEVER bring myself to making payments on a $41,000 (what they cost then) Dodge product that didn't say "used Viper". Especially when I knew all the value-killing I was about to do down the line. As bad as I wanted the looks and performance I knew that payment would slow me down from my modding habit. Besides, I've got much bigger things to pay for. For at least the next 25 years....................just ain't as fun as the Mag! but still much bigger.

Well I just got my car yesterday and the Blower is an hour away from being installed. I'm gonna blame the forums for this.

Ay-men to that. I meet anyone that's like me I think they're wordy blowhards and they annoy the he!! out of me - LOL!

And BTW, I've also easily spent enough on mods to cover the upgrade difference between an R/T and an SRT8, and I still have R/T brakes, seats, gauges, suspension......

    ...still have MDS, though.

2009 BB 300C SRT8 - Diablosport Predator, LMI Hammer-design intake, lower rad-shroud mod, 180* t-stat, BT catch can (unplugged for winter), Mopar hitch, dashboard hula girl, Blizzak tires on 18" Borbet type TS rims for winter.
...And yeah, I beat that yellow 'vette by a tenth - LOL!

I enjoyed reading your post man, made me think:

I'm glad I didn't trade my RT for an SRT, even though I paid a pretty penny for the 05 RT in Jan 2005.

Now I have a first year, Cool Vanilla Magnum, and now I'm about to start gettin' into SRT horsepower #'s! (let the performance mods begin!)

Not to mention I have 90,000 miles of FUN on my RT! We've had a great time so far!
