Verified this today.
Get in the car, close the door.
Turn key to ON
then back to ACC
then to ON
then back to ACC
then to ON
Do this fairly quickly, you'll see "-----" in place of your odometer.
After a few seconds, you'll see a tribute to LXforum member "done". (Not quite sure how he arranged that setup.) The display changes to "-dOnE-".
Saw this recommendation over at 300cforums. The guy who posted claims that this is typical on most, if not all, DCX OBDII vehicles. Apparently, if there are any stored trouble codes, they will appear.
Quoting his post:
This makes me think that the OBDII trouble codes can be pulled also. This trick has worked on Chrysler products since the mid Eighties at least. And still works on all current DCX products I've tried it on.
If someone can check this, I think it would be cool. Note that "ON" is just far enough to turn on all warning lights, but not enough to start. "Off" is just far enough back to turn those off. This should be done quickly, maybe 3-5 seconds for the turns, door closed.
1. Insert key.
2. Rotate key to ON
3. Rotate key OFF (NOTE: Turning key to ACC will suffice -- Tommy)
4. On
5. Off
6. ON
So it's on the third time that you stop with the key ON. Any applicable codes should be displayed. If there are none, it should display "dONE" in the odometer window.
Note that this is not the same as the procedure where you hold the trip reset button and turn key to the ON position. That brings up something like software version. Or you can press the reset button again and it goes through a cluster diagnostic test I believe. I think that test also ends with the "done" message.
