I think of my 300C as a BIG CAR

    Hi Guys!!

I think of my 300C as a BIG CAR. Maybe you do too. But did you know that the 300's are exactly 2 inches SHORTER than a 1976 Plymouth Volare?! [Or 0.7" shorter if you don't include the Volare's 'bumper guards'] Funny how perceptions change. I remember the first Volare/Aspen I saw. I thought it was a SMALL car. Then again - I suppose in comparison to the 235 inch long 1973 Imperial 'family car' we had at the time - the Volare was 'small'. And just so you know... The Volare was only 0.8" narrower but a whopping 5.1" lower.

Nope I grew up in the sixties and drove a '72 Chrysler Newport in the early 80's while in school. The LX is a midsize car to me. My Newport was 18 feet 3 inches long and about half a foot wider than my mothers big Chev Caprice.

The 300's a nice midsize car, to me...

Never did measure my dad's '59 Caddie, or his '64 Buick Electra.

Yeah but your 300 is wider, has more interior space and could outrun a Volare while in 4 cyl mode.

Plus the Volare was ugly. I laughed when I saw them get them for cop cars here in Toront.

Ha! The Newport's still the biggest so far, Bigger then that cool Bel Air and bigger than the Lincoln. I used to pull up next to every big car I saw and never found a stock car longer or wider. Many came close, but not quite... 2 inches longer than the Bel Air and I bet a good 4-6 inches wider... It had the small option motor in it, the 400. Bigger than my 6.1!

That is so funny. My buddy had a modded out 78 Magnum. It was just under 20' long. He also parked in his garage with the bumber guards sticking in a hole that the guards created to get the garage door shut.

Next to my lifted Ram it is small. Next to any of my 3 mustangs and it is big. It is all relative I guess.

Maybe, maybe not. I had 4 Aspen/Volare "things" over that period. My last was a brown Volare wagon with a 360 four barrel. I simply put on a cam gear without the 4degree retardation they put in for emissions and that thing would roast the tires. With some very minor attention (cam and headers) and of course modding the carb to keep the mix right, the 360 could make 350 hp. That car cost me quite a bit of time in court in the three years I had it.

Her new owner is on the train coming from Boston to get it now. She had to go. Know anyone that needs a real nice set of tail pipes without resonators? This guy is one of my workmates that is going to continue to use it like I did as far as lots of miles, but isn't into speed so she is back to stone stock, quiet with contis. He may be logged on as we speak, I sent him a "suggestion" to be number 10,000 last night and I haven't checked to see if he did it or not.
