I have EVIC envy! Help me out with my Dash Hawk purchase... (questions)

Hey guys/gals.

I don't have and EVIC or dual climate coolness but whatever, I still love my Mag!

I am interested in a Dash HAwk and have searched many threads here and the MSD site and I like what I see.

I am not a total gearhead and alot of the items this thing can log/check I don't have much use for or know enought about, to monitor. Some say I'll get an education on Wideband o2 and catalyst temp banks but for now I could care less.

I really want to monitor some basic temps and I like the MDS function. I would like to track tranny temp, oil temp, MDS and current gear. ALot has to do with me not knowing where my car produces the best fuel economy as well as how certain driving habits affect temps and so forth.

ANy Dash Hawk owners know if I can check something allong the lines of MPG on the unit? (I knew I should have held out for an EVIC DOH!)

According to the Nitrods web site.. its not compatible with the Magnums. Thats a shame... some nice features but not compatible.

it works on the mag? CV use's one so does Cam. Am i missing something here?

The DH cant give instant MPG yet, they are working on it, its in beta as I understand it.



Thats a screen cap of the settings screen in the PC software, those are the ones I have loaded into mine. Trojan has something very close to that as well, minus the MSD stuff on screen 1.

I'll wait for the instantaneous MPG. ANy idea how long they beta test things like this for? No rush but it would be great to have.

NO idea depends if they can get it to work.

I would still suggest getting it, the are super active in beta programs and bug fixes. To give you an idea I submitted i think 3 or 4 minor display type of bugs and they were fixed within the week.

They are working on a lot of things, the major problem being DCX and thier every changing code/prams

Dodge Vehicle Communications Issues

Some Dodge vehicles, particularly those equipped with Hemi engines, experience the following error codes when using DashHawk:

• <LI class=paragraph>Parking Assist Warnings <LI class=paragraph>U1011 Diagnostic Trouble Code <LI class=paragraph>Dash Light Warnings/flashing
• ABS Warnings

If you are experiencing any of these problems, you can remedy the situation with the following procedure:

1. Pin 13 must be removed from the OBDII port of the DashHawk cable. You can locate Pin 13 by holding the OBDII with the pins facing towards you. Pin 13 is the fourth pin from the left in the bottom row, as shown in the photo at right.
2. Break or cut off PIN 13 (circled in Red). A small needle-nose pliers or side cutter works well for this. Be certain to remove the correct pin and use care to avoid damage to adjacent pins. Remove the pin as close to the body of the connector as possible to ensure that it cannot make contact when plugged into the vehicle.
3. Re-connect DashHawk. If problems persist, please contact customer service at 915/855.7123
4. Alternately, you can request a pre-modified cable from customer service.

Will removing the pin 13 be a porblem when you plug in a scanner or any other type of programmer? Hmmm.

Mine works sweet and they are adding features everyday. I monitor ECT, oil pressure, oil temp, trans temp, MDS status, along with a LOT of other stuff like thats EVIC DOESN'T give you like: O2's, IAT, timing, knock sensors, fuel status, and the ability to read/clear codes.

It does data logging and performance measurements also. I think instant and MPG is going in the BETA, which doesn't take long. Not like asking SC for something!!
