I had to save our reputation today.

Ok, let me first begin by saying I have NOTHING against SXT magnums, or SXT owners in ANY WAY.

Now that I have that outta the way...

SXT owners should not try to race.

I'm sitting at a light directly behind a Cool Vanilla SXT and next to him at the front was a 95 or 96 Impala SS. While the SS is not really a challenge for an SRT8, they are certainly no slouches in the power department (I got my butt handed to me by one when I had my R/T).

The SS owner probably has no idea how to visually distinguish between various levels of LX vehicles, and assuming he was next to an R/T he was revving his motor at the SXT. The SXT took the bait and they hit it right on green.

I wanted to put my head in my hands and weep for this poor guy. The SS quite obviously took him good. Then I started thinking about how the SS driver likely thinks he just beat an R/T, and well.... we can't have someone like that boasting to anyone who will listen that he smacked a Magnum, so I stepped up.

He has slowed back down tothe speed limit so I was able to gently nudge the throttle and catch up to him. As I passed the Magnum I had the inclination to wave a dissaproving index finger at him as I went by, but I held back.

I get next to the SS (who is quite cocky now thinking he'll just as easily take me down) and give him a thumbs up. He of course smiles big and mashes the gas hard.

I'm not one to take the time to toy with anyone, but I had to crush his ego. I let him get about 2 car lengths on me and then I pushed the pedal through the floor. My Blastin' Bob's pipes sang their song.

    WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

And in a flash, as if he were standing still, I blew right by him. It was apparent that his SS was bone stock. Modified it would have at least been interesting for a second or two.

I saw a light changing up ahead and since I had him by a good 6 or 7 lengths I hit the brakes so that we could line up and get a serious race on at the light. He pulls up next to me and begins to roll up his window in shame. Not letting him off that easily I revved the hell outta my motor and let the pipes scream in his ear.

The light turns green and I hammer it leaving a nice patch of rubber on the road (surprising since my engine was all warmed up and it was about 92 degrees outside), and I saw him trying to keep up... it was on!

This time there was no letting up, it was time he saw what a Hemi was all about. I didn't even look back until I hit 120mph and when I did he was LITERALLY a speck in my mirror.

No he can go tell his friends about getting trounced by a Magnum. I'm sure he'll say it was an R/T... unless he really knows our cars.

So that is my story on how I had to save face for all of us Magnum owners.

If you can solve your problem, then what is the need of worrying? If you cannot solve it, then what is the use of worrying?

You got beat by a SS when you had your R/T? That's odd, it must have been modded. My Caprice (LT1, extended control arms, CAI, modified exhaust) had balls, but no where near my R/T...

Anyway, great kill! I'm glad he was able to go up against the best the Magnum can offer and get shamed! That SXT owner sounds like he needed a reality check. Too bad...

LOL, my "saving the Magnum reputation" of course is all tongue-in-cheek.

Yeah, when I had the R/T I ran across an SS late one night, he was modded you could hear it. It wasn't overkill though, nor did he totally disgrace me, but I did indeed lose to him. Now that I have the SRT I'm lookin' for his ass LOL!

As an SXT'er, believe me, you have to pick your battles VERY carefully!! I always try to uphold the Magnum honor. In other words, if I am going to get spanked, I lay low, insinuating that its not worth my time. Like SD said, they don't know what it is unless they know the badging, so...... Good lookin' out for lil' brother....

I've come across Impala SS and Mustang GT side by side at the light. R/T's have no problems as long as all involved are stock.

Nice one Bandit, atta to wave the Mopar flag!!!

How did you know the SXT was going to race? Because he hit the gas at the green? He may have had no intention of "racing" him but because the SS kept gasing it he may have toyed with him in thinking he was going to race just to watch him speed down the road and laugh. Not everybody wants to race or feel they have to prove there car is faster. Since you like to , it was a good kill, especially since the other guy was looking for it. It is getting harder and harder to tell the difference in our cars since some are debadging, changing exhaust, lights, grills, bumpers and wheels. There are the stock ones out there that have not changed their look, but they probably don't race either.

we should start traveling in pairs... SE's and SXT's to tease them and give them confidence, puffer's if you will, and RT's and SRT's to CRUSH THEIR SOULS!
