I guess I wore out my welcome

I'm a member of Chargerforums and I posted what was probably my 5 posting regarding brylcreem. Needlees to say, it got one response so I guess I wore out my welcome. I am seriously interested in doing the brylcreem to my Charger. After 3 weeks, I FINALLY found someone who will do it at a fair price ( about 100) ( all ather places wanted 200-450). This guys only concern is how it might affect the back pressure and that might send codes. He says that some Flowmasters have sent codes. I really think hes doing this to cover his a--. Are there any articles, testing what ever , that anyone knows of, that I can give him that will show that its o.k. to do this? Please help... I'm WAYYYYYYYYY past the point of crazy

you won't set codes with a Brycleem. There are people with straight pipes off the Cats, and there are no codes.

Just make sure you tell the guy to PROPERLY ground the exhaust system when welding, otherwise you make kill your O2 sensors & computers.

Don't worry about backpressure with the Brycleem mod either, you aren't changing enough to hurt performance.

It's when you take off your middle suitcase muffler and replace it with pipe.

Not sure where you are, but here in California I wouldn't worry about it. They are mostly concerned that you have stock cats here.

I've had that done to both my Mags. No issues with either. My SRT8 has the suitcase removed and a Magnaflow exhaust the rest of the way back. No codes at all.

I did the brylcreem to my RT and while it sounded wonderful, it failed the wife test.

hmm, maybe that's why I don't have a wife anymore?

    naaaaa...

I have Flowmaster catback with the suitcases removed and straight pipe added. I love the sound and no codes thrown. I say DO IT!

Never heard the term brylcreem though.

When I look up the word "brylcreem", all I get is a bunch of "hair product" ads. Even the dictionary says it's a type of hair product. Why do you call it "brylcreem"?!

They supposedly call it " brylcreem" because back in tha day, the commercial for brylcreem said " a little dab l do ya" . They call this mod brylcreem because its the cheapest ( littlest) mod you can do to get an upgraded sound. Most of the 50 or so ( at least) people on the Chargerforums web site said they could get this done ( removing the " suitcase" muffler and replacing it with pipe) for less than 100. The key is that you need to find a shop that can bend pipe because there are a few little bends that are needed. There is an excellent thread on Chargerforums that has plenty of pics and sound clips.. For anyone interested, check it out

I believe they call it brylcreem because of the hair stuff. Something to do with their advertisements back in the day. There is a big post with sound clips over on the charger forum. Seems to be a popular alternative to Blastin' Bobs. I'm still trying debating on which one to do for my RT. I better just pick one because the stock exhaust is waaay to quiet.
